Argos & John Lewis - Nooks

Thanks to Rufus6 I have just ordered a Nook from Argos, for anyone else still trying to get one, I spoke to JL customer service yesterday and they told me that they are expecting 3000+ plus to be delivered this week. The stock updates overnight and they have a free 2 year warranty. hth

I'm not tech savvy, so apologies if the following is a stupid thing to ask.

Is the Nook's WI-FI MAC address in anyway useful when trying to connect to a secured home Wi-Fi network?

    If yes, how?

If you have MAC address filtering turned on, you need to input the MAC into the router so it can authenticate. If not, then no :)

Just want to say a big thankyou to Ralph, for explaining how to get my nook up and running and putting books on it .
All sorted now-I think it was an age thing -convinced I couldn't do it before I made extra time to try .
Thank again for all the help .
Not rooted it ,but my kindle books have converted fine.

    :)

that to me is the easiest simplest way,

if you create an account ( using a credit/debit card ) you have the option to buy books on line via wifi.

My suggestion is to wait just a short while (start June) to see if this update for the Nook appears / is any good.

If not then I will try rooting mine .....
and maybe |I might do another walk through on rooting:A

If he/she likes to read in bed, I can highly recommend a 'kindle' light from Poundland. For only a pound with batteries included, it is great!

Also, maybe a cover? Lots to choose from on various sites. Some of the earlier posts on this thread have some good links.
