There have been instructions on here about rooting - they do mention that if things go wrong to do a factory reset:-

"To do a full recovery, power it down and then power it up right after it starts coming up, press both the left and right lower buttons on the face of the nook touch, hold them down for several seconds during the start up and it’ll prompt you for a system wipe."

er, it doesn't have left and right lower buttons!

Any idea if this factory reset can be done?

There's the 4 page turning and settings buttons (although they look like long thin lines rather than buttons) on the front case, presumably it means the lower ones of those?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I have just managed to order a Nook from Argos this morning, with free next day delivery, this will make a great gift.

Thanks for the reply to my earlier post.

Please note ! Doing a factory reset will loose all your ebooks stored on the Nook! :( You would only do this if completely desperate.

Here are some other factory reset instructions:D:-

"-Turn off your Nook Simple Touch completely.
-Turn it on again by holding down power, and then, as soon as the screen flashes, begin holding down the bottom page turn keys on the left and right of the device until the screen flashes with a message asking if you want to do a factory reset.
    - Click the home key twice, and you should be on your way."

As at Wednesday 29th May @ 21.00 I see the Nook Simple Touch is in stock at John Lewis (delivery or store delivery) and at Argos for home delivery - I assume a new shipment has come over the horizon...:T

Now anyone who lost out ordering before can get one - I think JL is the best bet with the store delivery pickup arrangement as theirs has a 2 year guarantee !

With the advantage of ereader dictionary look up I think this, at this price, makes it a perfect device for school kids - and all the classics for English course reading should be free - it just gets better and better.

Hi everyone! I just picked up my new nook from sainsburies (first one was a US one) and have had it plugged into my laptop for an hour. The entire time it has said that the power is too low to turn on and I should wait 15 minutes. Is this normal?

How on earth do you switch these things off? The power button at the top doesn't seem to do anything.

Is sleep mode (picture of the tree appearing on screen) effectively switching the Nook off?

Yes. It confused me too at first!
