Found a few sites for free books

    http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/Top_100
    http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/free-epub-books-online.htm

How do you get books from these sites on to the nook? Do you download to pc first & can you only download directly to the nook from the nook store? Thanks

You download to your PC, then connect the Nook with a microUSB cable and drag and drop the books into the "books" folder. It is really simple to do.

I have now downloaded it and got the zipped file but unsure what to do next can you explain, step by step?

If you've downloaded the tools_v6.05.zip file then (as in post #522):

'Unzip' the file - lots of freeware 'un-zippers' around like 7-zip if you haven't got one i.e:

    http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Then it's the 'DeDRM_calibre_plugin' folder that you need - just follow the instructions in the 'DeDRM_plugin_ReadMe' document.

I'll find out soon when my sister-in-law tries to use my 'bought from Nook' Nook.

Thank you, that'll be very interesting. Since so many people are buying them as gifts during the £29 offer, it would seem a bit crazy if Nook UK send them out pre-registered to the purchaser's account. Hopefully they realise the purchaser isn't necessarily the person who's going to own the device, but it will be useful to have it confirmed. Thanks again.

Click on the main button (below the screen).
    ‘Settings’ (bottom right)
    ‘Social’ (second from bottom)
‘Link to Facebook, Twitter and Google’ (top)
‘Google – Link your account’ (bottom)
‘can’t access your account?’ (very small and faint, under sign-in box about half way down)
‘Google Home’ (base of screen, second option, very small)

Touch google entry box and a qwerty keyboard appears

Just checked my Nook order that I refused. It has been marked as refused by UPS and is on its way back to Nook.
Very order #1 is on its way today, only nearly 2 weeks after it was ordered, and 10 days after the 2nd order was received.

When you buy from Nook direct, does the Nook come pre-registered to the account that has purchased it? ...
The posters who bought from Nook direct, can you confirm whether there was any sign of the device having been pre-registered to your account when you switched it on out of the box, or did you have to start from scratch? Many thanks in advance for any replies.

    Hi,
I ordered from the UK Nook site - got my Nook simple touch yesterday and can confirm that it's not pre-registered - had to go through process on device to register it.

My guess would be 'not legal', unless they have downloaded lots of (free) out-of-copyright books and burnt to CD - probably called 'classic fiction' or similar.
