Now I seem to have my Nook up and running I would like to get some (free) Enid Blyton and Josephine Cox books but can't find any on the sites I have looked at.
Does anyone know of a good (trusted) site I can find these, please?0 -
Books by Blyton and Cox are still in copyright, and it unlikely that they can be found for free. The Nook download site shows the ones available and their cost, which is more than I would have thought, especially for the Blyton ones. There's a subscription website called https://www.whoelsewriteslike.com which lists fiction authors and gives ideas for other writers who's books you may like. It costs about £6 +VAT p.a., but they offer a free trial. It's very useful, but I've only used it in the library, not for my Nook (yet).0

I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

 Thanks for sharing Marvin! Managed to get one. Wouldn't have bothered checking Sainsbury's site again as the deal was due to finish on the 14th, so cheers! :beer:0 -
There is a wireless code thing in the front of the booklet that came with the router, so hopefully it will be fairly straightforward.
Woman I work with has the same router and is also with Orange and said she had problems setting up wifi, had to contact their technical department and she is far more techie aware than I am:(
I am just hoping that I can switch the Nook on and then connect to wifi without even having to switch my desktop PC on - do you think this sounds at all likely? As you can probably tell, I am completely paranoid when it comes to the internet:eek:
Also, forgot to ask, does the Nook Simple Touch come with a charger?
It should be straightforward, you've obviously got an internet connection with them that's up and running, all you should need is to have the wifi turned on.
I wasn't sure if you can download books without your pc being switched on so I tried it last night and yes, you can.
I ordered a couple of free books from B&N via the 'puter, waited for their 'your ebook is ready to download' email to arrive, turned the 'puter off and turned the nook on. They downloaded straight away.
Don't know about the charger, mine's a Glowlight. All I know is that it came with one.0 -
When you buy from Nook direct, does the Nook come pre-registered to the account that has purchased it? (I know this happens with Kindle if you buy it direct from Amazon; when you switch the Kindle on it already has your account details in it. I presume they scan the barcode on the device when sending it out and it automatically links up with your Amazon credit card. So any purchases made on it would be linked to the credit card that purchased it, and you have to deregister and start from scratch if you want to give it as a gift to someone else.)
I'm asking this because, thanks to Nook's refusal to cancel my order when I tried, I'm now going to end up with an extra one from Nook. I don't trust the "refuse delivery and it will automatically go back for a refund" option (it sounds a bit too hit and miss for my liking, I can imagine it sitting in the back of the van for weeks!)And after all the frustrating communications with Nook over the past 2 weeks, I don't fancy going through it all again chasing a refund. So I'm thinking I might keep the extra Nook to give as a gift. But I don't want to give it to someone else only to find it's linked to my account and any purchases they make will go onto my credit card! (I know that sounds paranoid, but something similar almost happened with my Kindle!)
The posters who bought from Nook direct, can you confirm whether there was any sign of the device having been pre-registered to your account when you switched it on out of the box, or did you have to start from scratch? Many thanks in advance for any replies.0 -

OOS again, not sure where you got the 14th from it says 4th June on the site.
BTW anyone looking for when the stock comes in the systems roll out between 3 and 4 in the morning if there is going to be any they will appear around about then.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Has anyone received a nook direct from Barnes and Noble with this offer? I tried to order one on the first day but had the same payment issues as everyobe else. I thought it might be my card so gave my BIL cash and he ordered using his card and order appeared to go through fine, he got an order number etc. The problem is he made a mistake inputting my email address and so I can't check on delivery progress. Is anyone still waiting or should I just give up and assume its not coming?0

I tried to cancel my order from Nook but they shipped anyway - then the courier left the parcel outside my door when I wasn't home so I couldn't refuse the delivery. I got back in touch with their customer service and they've sent me a pre-paid label to send the nook back to them for the refund (their policy says customers pay for returns but as they shipped mine after I cancelled they're covering the cost).Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
