    Hi
When I looked a bit earlier at my order status it still shows processing and due for delivery on 14th May (I told the telephone operator I spoke to yesterday I wanted to wait for more stock and also when they replied to my order status email today I also I said I wanted to wait for more stock)

Hmm thats weird! Thanks for replying, will give them a call in the morning and see if we can figure out why its been cancelled!

How did that happen? Do you have to fill in a serial number or suchlike to initially register the product?

I have set up a Nook account online through my PC, but have not yet unpacked the Nook, bit scared of the set up process:eek:

As mentioned, I always connect my desktop PC to the internet on a wired connection and don't want to use wifi for that.

I have a code that came with the router for setting up wifi, but:

    a) Is that difficult to set up? Have heard about problems with setting up wifi.

    b) Will I still be able to use the PC as usual on the wired connection?

    c) Would I be better just downloading books to my desktop and then putting them onto the Nook? Would that be a far easier option for a technophobe who is really quite nervous about anything to do with the internet?

From one non-techic to another -
Unpack the nook > charge it up > turn your computer on > turn the nook on >
Then if you are like me you'll discover that although you are using a wired connection for your 'puter, the wifi bit is also turned on and the nook will do all the connecting and transferring for you.
You'll need the code that came with your router and the info for the nook account you set up on your pc.
It will do everything else - passing serial numbers, registering etc
If you've bought any books they will start downloading themselves.

I didn't have a clue what was happening cos I though the my wifi was turned off but obviously not.

Now, I search online with the computer, 'buy' what I want (it's all been free books so far from B&N) they send me an email to confirm the sale and the next time I have both the computer and the nook turned on, they download automatically to the nook.
They don't go on my computer and I don't have to transfer them.

    So my answers are -
    a) No, can't be. I set this computer up and didn't realise I'd done it.
    b) Yes, apparently I've been working like that for at least 6 months.
    c) No, let the nook do it itself, it's working fine for me.

I don't know if this has already been posted but Asda are selling the Stylus Touch Pen for £1 in the cheapie £1 section. They work on Tablets, Smart Phones, Music Players and (obviously) the Nook! They are mounted on a greenish card about 4 x 6 inches.
It's BARGAIN, BARGAIN, got it? Bargin my ****.

Are the download sites that people are recommending on here all 'legal' to download from? Do we need to be wary of viruses etc?

    I'm virussed!

I clicked on the Calibre site a few days ago and everything seemed fine. Then I clicked on the 3 given above (on laptop obviously) and didn't like what was appearing. Delta appeared and I removed it, but an in-depth scan has shown Trojan. I'm not techie, and I have tried to remove everything, but I'm going to my PC shop today to let them have a look.

I have reasonable malware and AVG protection and whatever it is has gone through.

I cannot, for sure, say it was the above sites, and I could well have been virussed previously without knowing it, but here I am.

PS - my best experience for free books was Amazon Kindle for Android. I love Amazon. They have a terrific business model, and I feel safe with them. I got several terrific free books via their site, and completely safe.

The plug in 'breaks' (for want of a better word) the DRM aspect so the books are no longer tied to one particular ereader and can be read on any. (Wont work on rented books.)

If you have any books already listed in Calibre, remove them first, you need an 'empty' Calibre before you add the plug in.

I promise you it looks worse than it is and is simple to do. Once the plug in is loaded you can then add books to Calibre, click on one to convert from Mobi to Epub and then you can put it on your Nook.

I downloaded 'Kindle for PC' http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000423913 and I download Kindle books to it and not to my Kindle now. That way I can choose whether to still put them on my Kindle or convert them in Calibre and put them on my Nook.

I have my kindle books converted in Calibre as you explained above but cant work out how to get them onto my nook can you assist me please :)

I'm at a different pc at the moment (with no Nook to hand either) so can't be exact but from memory you simply highlight whatever book you want and click an icon above the list of books. The icon should say something like 'send to device' or 'transfer' of something similar.

Maybe someone else can be exact but if not and you're still stuck, I can check properly later.

I have now got it as far as my files on my nook but can get them into my library ? nearly there but not quite...any ideas?
