Just got off the phone to John Lewis they said it wasnt sent due to it being out of stock (the operator said sometimes items go out of stock just when you order them) . They said they do not know when they are getting stock from the manufacurers but see if they have any stock from stores that can fulfill the order. This is the third retailer I have tried (& so far failed) to get a Nook from and I think they all need to sort out their stock systems, customer services and ordering status out

Just called up my local John Lewis to see whether they had any in stock and even though they didn't, the sales rep said that they had two in stock in the warehouse. Exactly how many I wanted! So I've ordered with them now and they should be with me by Friday (free delivery). I've just cancelled my orders with currys and they didn't even try to stop me with an estimated date of delivery, just cancelled straight up, so I'm a very happy bunny as I've also saved on the price of the product cover.

From what I've read on here, JL have been good with their orders and communication, so I'm happy to have switched my order. I've got a friend who ordered on the same day as me from currys, so I can see when (if) I would have received my orders...that's if she doesn't cancel her order with them too!

Thank you melbury! I see you've gotten a hold of yours finally, how is it going for the self-proclaimed technophobe? :D Have you managed to connect to the internet and download a book yet?

Just wanted to say thank you to the op (I got mine from pc world) and also everyone else who has posted various helpful tips.

Ive managed to download several books (free) using adobe and calibre and have picked a cover from HMV this morning, so am now happily reading the first of the mortal instruments books by cassandra clare.

    Happy bunny here :j

Thanks Gold Dust but I haven't got it yet, will probably pick it up on Wednesday from Waitrose - they hold JL deliveries for 7 days, so now I know it is there no great rush:D

Will undoubtedly be back on here with all kinds of questions and queries once I do get it:)

I'm not sure why you would want to root something with a 6 inch black and white screen - the display of web pages must be horrible.

Well my main use was going to be Dropbox - so can sideload files easily. Next purpose would be turning it into a kick !!! sudoku machine

Mine supposed to be delivered to my work address tomorrow. I'm getting worried as I've now realised that argos deliver from 7am and my work reception isn't manned til 8.15am. I think the delivery men might not get an answer so will chuck it in the back of the van and I'll never see it again

I think one man will manage the delivery :rotfl:
Its highly unlikely they ill be at a business address at 7am

I've just the same conversation with JL :( at least I didnt go there and wait for nothing. Wish I'd reserved one through Argos for Home Delivery now.

If anyone is interested apparently JL have stock in store in Oxford St or Edinburgh

I was in John Lewis on Oxford street this morning as soon as they were open and was told there was none available. They don't even have the £29.99 model on display.
