I've downloaded calibre, but its saying the books I'm looking at are drm and it won't convert them. Do I need to hunt for boks that aren't drm, and how do I do that? (Maybe I'm looking at the wrong books.)
Edit- just had a quick look and will have a proper play tomorrow. Thanks for the link. Pretty sure I'll be back with more questions though - my head hurts and I haven't tried to do anything yet. Oh to be technically minded.
The plug in 'breaks' (for want of a better word) the DRM aspect so the books are no longer tied to one particular ereader and can be read on any. (Wont work on rented books.)
If you have any books already listed in Calibre, remove them first, you need an 'empty' Calibre before you add the plug in.
I promise you it looks worse than it is and is simple to do. Once the plug in is loaded you can then add books to Calibre, click on one to convert from Mobi to Epub and then you can put it on your Nook.
I downloaded 'Kindle for PC' http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000423913 and I download Kindle books to it and not to my Kindle now. That way I can choose whether to still put them on my Kindle or convert them in Calibre and put them on my Nook.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Excellent-thank you for the tip! I fancied the Glowlight version, with the backlight for reading in lower light. Only £39 with the refund!0 -
Anybody else get a feedback email from Nook? I told them they were useless. Bouncing orders, emailing saying dispatched then cancelled.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

How long does it take to convert books using calibre?
I keep glancing over this thread and this is one thing that's putting me off...0 -
Between a few seconds and 30min, depends on the ebook. I have had "Normal" books convert in <30sec and some graphic heavy pdf's take 30min. Normal is about 1-2min.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

Has anyone successfully cancelled an order from the Nook/B&N website? I cancelled my order last Thursday and bought one from my local Sainsburys instead. However, I didn't receive any cancellation email from Nook, and three days later my Nook order status is still saying "Processing."
I tried going on the Live Chat to ask them to make sure it was cancelled, but they just trotted out some description of what "should" happen, which was no use to me; (I know what should happen....I wanted to know what actually IS happening!) I haven't had any reply to the emails I've sent, and I can't get anyone at Nook or B and N to confirm that the cancellation has gone ahead. Having read the experiences of the posters on here, I'm worried that Nook/B&N might end up sending out the order and charging my credit card even though I cancelled three days ago.
I can't find a UK customer service number for Nook....has anyone managed to speak to them on the phone? Also, is anyone able to confirm from personal experience that cancelling via the website actually does stop the order from being fulfilled, even though the status still says Processing?0 -

I keep glancing over this thread and this is one thing that's putting me off...The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
