Tax credit renewal 2013

I renewed by phone on Monday and there is an odd payment in my account today, so I'm presuming they've dealt with it already! :j0

Had an odd payment on Monday and today received my award notice, which would have been great except they had taken my lad off the award as I wasn't asked if he was staying on at 6th form. Didn't realise I had to tell them tbh, I thought I had to tell them if he left school. Still you live and learn.
Spent ages on the phone waiting to update them so hopefully now all sorted.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

Well I think I'm on week 8 now!
I appreciate that there is such a thing as tax credits, however I think they really need to look at the system - it's clearly very very poor.
The telephone line and options just makes me feel even worse! :-(0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the info.
He doesnt recieve mail at my address other than random junk once a month that i throw in bin. He lives at his mums, and as far as i am aware is on electrol roll at that address, he hasnt been on council tax at my address since we split in 2008. He has his own bank account which is registered at his mums address and has been since we split in 2008. He has a works van, so that is registered to work, but his drivers licence is registered at his mums address.
I have gathered all evidence required by tax credits, all bills in my name, council tax in my name.
The only problems I have now is we still have a Mortgage which is in joint names but i cant do anything about this, mortgage company wont allow us to take his name off as it is in negative equity.
The other is a bank account in joint names that I still use even though I have my own, ive just never got round to changing everything over and he wouldnt agree to have his name took off, he also pays me child maintenance into that account as well as extra money for debts that he owes my parents, which I transfer to my mum and dads bank account when he pays me the maintenance. Im only worried because he does pay me alot as he has quite a good job, but we did have loads of debts totalling approx £60,000 not including the mortgage that he agreed he would still pay for when we split up. So the money he gives me is for child maintenance and to pay debts he owes. My concern is should I have declared the maintenance payments when I made my single claim???
Im not sure what to do other than send evidence and hope for best!
They havent requested I send proof of him living elsewhere, should I send this anyway?
They have also asked me to send an explanation as to why I claimed as a single person, what should I write, I cant just put because I am!!!
Any help or advice from anyone who has gone through this would be much appreciated Ive got until 12 August to supply my information or they will stop my payments.
Thanks
I would send any evidence you can get that shows he uses another address as his residence as this will be a key part of the case from your side, as there is a link between yous going on the info above. It all comes down to the balance of evidence, you need to send as much as you can in terms of documents in your own name, then include evidence for the address he does reside at.0 -
Hi,
Does anyone actually know what happens if they reject my evidence?? I presume they will ask for repayment for all of last year and this?? Would it be every penny or the difference between a single and joint claim?? Also what would happen next would I have to make a new joint claim even though he doesnt live here??0 -

The whole single claim would be overpaid. Yes, you would either have to make a new joint claim or make a single claim but be prepared to fight it.
If he doesn't live with you and you have evidence to show he is at another address then you must appeal it. Otherwise you could be left without any tax credits.
Claiming with him when you are not a couple would equally be making an incorrect claim.

I am her representative because she has special needs and her circumstances have not changed in the past two years. I rang them two weeks ago and after keeping me on hold while they spoke to their supervisor/manager was told to expect something in the post within 14 days. We were really worried as they would not give a reason why we had not received the renewal.
I rang again yesterday and spoke to a lovely lady. She said there were technical problems and not to worry. I said we were going on holiday next week and we don't want the payments to stop because my daughter had not signed by 31st July.
I have spoke to a few people and they all agreed they don't know what they are doing up there.
Hope they get themselves sorted soon!
Carol
Hi Carol,
I still haven't received pack - rang today and was told to wait. Apparently my payments wont stop from 31st July.
Slightly concerned about being overpaid now though.

I would ring cause the housing benefit can retrive information from tax credits so sounds like your renewal has been done.0 -
Me - very fed up and upset with the Tax Credits Office once again!
Sent all of my information for the renewal and sent them evidence because I know they always get self employed claims wrong.
Reduced my payments now, despite the fact they should have been increased and it's clear that they didn't read or didn't bother to process anything that I sent them.
The award notices are being produced tomorrow and I guess I may get those in about 4 weeks time, well if I'm lucky.
Oh why do they do these things, now do I write back today and confirm the correct info, or do I await the award notices, or do I even bother to call to rectify the whole mess.
Stressed. :-(
AFTER I CALMED DOWN
I called them back and asked why.
So I'm told even though I sent them the correct figures and 15 pages of evidence to support my figures (all about self employment and losses) they still choose to take the figures from the HMRC Tax System and ignore everything I had put down - they did this because... I wasn't there to speak for myself and this could be an opportunity for fraud.
Now I'm wondering why I bother completing the form, when they just change it anyway.
and
Why they don't bother to telephone me, if they can take my facts into account whilst I'm on the telephone.
and
Why can't they read all of my evidence, including their very own Tax Return forms?
ANGRY :-(0
