  • Im completely baffled. i rang up and done my renewal they had an estimate of 38,000 for 2012/13 which is more than double what we are earning i never gave them this figure i gave them the correct one, i did this on tuesday, on saturday i receive a payment similar to my regular one, but surely they owe me a lot more than a £100 seeing as they have doubled my income!! god its so stressful!!!

what was your income the year before?
  • I renewed today and haven't got my pack told then I did. After giving hubby's amount from p60 was ask to hold on till he cross referenced it and then repeated the figure I gave him! Strange.

I have just received my renewal pack. Much later than previous years I think. I had to ring for an unrelated reason last week and was told what date my PAL was sent. They are taking an average of 6 days to be sent and received.
    August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
    NSD : 2/8

I received my renewal pack a week later than it whould have been, I rang up to do it straightaway and was told up to 6 weeks for it to be processed and not to ring before some date in July.

I am now sat waiting and worried over whether it will go through okay, not because I have done anything wrong but just in case they send it to compliance because of what I told them on the phone.

I went s/e in December after 6 years on IS. When I rang they did it all over the phone and got my payments done straight away, including the disability element of WTC. At that time the guy asked me how much money I anticipated making in my first year of trading, I gave him the figure from my business plan which was around £2700. (I only do 16 hours a week at present). He said it was better to overestimate than under estimate so we agreed on a figure of £4000, although I knew it would not reach that in the first year.

Anyway when I called to renew she asked me for my figure up to 31 March this year. I told her the truth, which is I made a loss, after all I have only been going since December, so its only 3 months. She questioned was it definately a loss and I said yes, I had provided Housing benefit with with a 3 Month set of accounts which showed a loss albeit only £200. So she took that figure and entered it as a true figure.

I am worried now that because I estimated £4k profit in December and declared a £200 loss 3 months later they will pull the claim for closer checking. I know I don't have anything to hide even if they do but it is still a worry......

My payments actually went down at the start of April on my provisional assessment because I have an overpayment from 2003 that is still being paid back. So even though the amounts of WTC increased including the disabled element my payments went down by £30 a month, which is a lot to suddenly find yourself short by. I know it will all work out in the end even if they check the claim but it is the amount of time it takes.

It is something to do with this overpayment I am still paying (which was there fault) and every year when I was on IS and the CTC went up in April my payments always reduced until they did the renewal. The system seems to take the extra money and a bigger chunk of whats left to offset against the overpayment, so until they do it you end up getting less, I had to ring up every year to try and get them to sort it out, just so I wasn't any worse off.

    Hi all,

Does anyone know the time frame for a provisional award to become a final award?

    I renewed 29/4/13

I received a provisional award dated 26/4/13, before i renewed this was due to a change in circumstance, my daughter diagnosed Aspergers and entitled disabled element.

I also contacted them on the 1/5/13 to change my bank details, i then received another provisional award on the 13/5/13, not heard anything since.

Any ideas why it may not be a final award yet?

    Thanks

I phoned to renew last week when my pack arrived. I was told another office was dealing with it and they gave me the phone number to ring. It was 03000 526540. I understand this to be a compliance office number but it has been engaged 24 hours a day for the last week!

Does anyone have another number I could try? I sent off all my childcare information over a month ago and have all my renewal information ready but am now at a dead end as to go further forward.

Any help would be much appreciated.
  • Im afraid im in the same boat as you.

I renewed 5 weeks ago but told it is being processed through compliance same number as you.

Ive been told a letter is on the way to me asking for childcard proof. I cant send info back till the letter comes.

WEll its 5 weeks still no letter so i guess ill be looking at another 4 weeks at least from when the letter eventually arrives.

Its silly really, why check childcare after the year why not check before you claim or when you claim.

I had a letter for all my childcare receipts, childcare contact etc for the last tax year which I have sent so hopefully it won't take too long to sort.
