32b3in2013 (assuming you are a girly sorry)....question. Just saw your sig. Is the money you are saving going towards the debt eventually or is it seperate..?

    I am a girl :D

The challenge was to either earn or save £2013 in 2013. I choose to earn. I have earned over £2000 on ebay since the middle of Jan 2013 and every single penny of it has gone towards my debt. I paid off and closed a credit card in 3 months with the help of that money :D

I am a bit obsessed with clearing my debt at the mo, I spend hours looking at my spreadsheets :rotfl:

edit, not at all nosy, I am quite proud of how much I have paid off in 4 months, I could talk about it for hours!!

That is brilliant! I literally just transferred £700 to my bike loan ( sig to be updated shortly).. a colleague showed me how to do simple sums on my spreadsheet (automatic adding / subtracting) - I should know this by now at my age but I was never properly traught. He has offered to show me properly..

I am just as obsessed.. I have all my reciepts in my purse all neatly waiting to be "filed" and they are already listed on my spreadsheet individually.

I have a copy at home and at work and regularily update or email back and forth ( I don't want it online ).. and am constantly working out money, calcuations etc..

You should be very proud of yourself - thats a heck of a lot of money on eBay.....:T:T:T

On another note - I am now UNDER £8000!!!! but what to do about the stupid student loan. There is a "recalculated balance of "£63.36". left to pay!.. The deductions on my wage will take 28 days to stop so at least £110 will come out next month meaning I will have to wait a further 28 days for a refund... do I eBay my bits and pay off that £63.36 and hope it registers... (despite being told I have to send my P60 and April/May payslip to them as HMRC take 3 months to update them on payments made and they may end up taking that £110 anyway ).... or do I just let it lie until June and see what happens..? I technically want it gone ....???

Excellent on both counts, well done.

I keep my spreadsheet on my home computer. I work for the government so I am not sure that our system can cope with anything other than very small, very basic files  :D

I am just waiting until the last of my direct debits go out and then I will be making some more payments, Just paid £4.34 off of Very from an ebay buyer from last weekend who has just paid! I usually know how much money I havea t any given time, but I changed bank accounts at the end of April and as direct debits are moving from one to t'other, I need to make sure there is enough money in both accounts to cover all DDs, Only one to go though!

Congratulations NinjaSavingKat and 32b3in2013. That's a lot of money to save/pay off :T

Well I haven't had a SFD but have done the food shop for the next 10 days hopefully. I was going to do it tomorrow but we'd ran out of squash, eggs, decaf tea, cheese and bread so it was getting tricky. MIL gave me a £5 off £40 @ Tesco so I've stocked up on newborn nappies etc.

I had a lovely morning with my friend and did go to a cafe. Spent £3.85 on tea & cake out of entertainment budget. I also spent £1.89 on 10 birthday cards & an anniversary card which came out of birthday fund.

I WILL HAVE A SFD TOMORROW. We have playgroup first thing but as I help out it's free for us. I have my 25 week midwife check straight after that then home to bake so no spends.

Hope everyone has had a lovely day in the sun.

Hi everyone, I thought I had posted yesterday but no sign... Car has been fed so no longer running on fumes! SFD on Wed as a kind colleague/friend treated me to a coffee and another member of our allotments committee bought me a drink at our meeting in the evening. At a fundraising event tonight and sis bought the raffle tickets too :-)

A few birthdays this month so will be a bit spendy on that front. My dear friend from Oz arrived so we are having an afternoon out to catch up tomorrow. Will try to keep the costs down but it was planned prechallenge and I haven't seen her for yonks.

32b3in2013 wow!!! Amazed at your total made from eBay. I need to get myself into gear and make some money. We sold a lot of DS2's clothes earlier this year but he used the money to buy clothes that fitted.

On the upside I've lost a few pounds towards my personal challenge of losing a couple of stones to fit into my bridesmaid dress for my youngest sister's wedding. Just need to make a few pounds too!

Just a quickie before I sign off for the day.. well done to those who are confessing as we go along.. It's a hard ride but we are here for the long haul and it's a learning curve... L2B is it the kids that nag you to go out and buy some... are they in on the SFD challenges.. or something you work around them?... Must be hard having little people of any size..

StopLurking - bless your cotton's. Thank you for hanging around though.. I like MSE style updates no matter what the month holds in store for you..

Mrs Toast getting little people items in.. very cool! And nice of Mummy to hand over a voucher..:T

I am up at 0500. Left my make-up bag at work. Budgeting duplicate items in June to keep stashed at home. Getting into work early with a bag over my head.

Heading to Guy's hospital tomorrow for a free crown (approx £500?..I have more filling than tooth)... I may have mentioned it before... like this time last year.. finally doomsday is here. If you don't here from me tomorrow I'll be in the corner crying. Apparently it will take 4 hours...??

Anything to save money... trust students!

  • Thanks to all for your kind wishes - the interview went well & they scheduled the next one for tomorrow at 9:15 so I won't miss my train. I'll let you know how I go!
Hope the scan goes well Mrs Toast.

I agree with you matt2389. I am so inspired by this board. This is only my second Kat challenge but it has helped me move from wanting to sort out my cash to actually trying to do something about it. I feel so proud when I manage a SFD, and love hearing how people have paid off debts like Kat & 32b3in2013. You make me want to follow your lead.
Also big shout out to the I <3 spreadsheet geeks on here. My spreadsheets are a thing of wonder, I even have one sheet with my 100 squares to colour in!

I managed a SFD today but most certainly won't over the long weekend, so best of luck to you other challengers!

  • Thanks for all the hugs, it means a lot. Managed 1st SFD, stayed in and made birthday lunch for my dad. Stationeryspender, hope your interview goes well tomorrow.
    Total debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!
  • Evening/night all - quick post before I hit the hay - done a food shop and a fuel shop today - totals below - however I didnt spend £90 on a new bike....

Having seen the state of old bike behind shed in the land of frogs and toads I reserved myself a nice new bike at ArgUs last night and pondered..... DH claimed he could clean off the rust and put new tyres on the old one but I wanted a new bike - it was either that of gym membership (I've been tempted by Kat and Abundant!). Anyway in the cold light of day - I have spent £16 on two tyres and inner tubes - hopefully they will arrive either tomorrow or sat so I can pedal this weekend. With a 16 mile round trip to the nearest gym I'm hoping this will be cheaper. Anyway has this thread changed my shopping habits - well by now I'd have bought the new bike so yes it has!!

Have also registered for internet on my mortgage account - if I can see it day to day I will know what I'm dealing with!! Oh and had a chat with DH about the new car, specifically about the cost - as much as we would like x Y & Z we need something reliable and inexpensive to fix and run and preferably buy!!

Anyway off to ponder on my way to dribble land,
Love to all, good or bad keep the stories coming, its good to know there are others out there being "real" with their cash. :D
