LAGL - sorry to hear about your news. It's shocking nontheless despite not knowing them very well. Things like this really make us take stock of our lives and wonder what could be done better.. it's time to start living for ourselves..not the banks, not the credit companies etc... Your little girl will remember this gift from you for the rest of her life because it was unexpected. I know what it's like getting stuff from charity shops with my Mummy... the dress up bridesmaids dresses were the best thing I ever got and I will never forget them. Princess books are something she can give her little girl too.
Forgive me one and all.. I couldn't check in with you all last night. I got in at 2000, had to to make food for today as the sandwiches we are given aren't very substantial for a 12 hour shift.. after showering, fussing over the moggy I was in bed.. and back up at 0430. It's starting to take it's toil now though.. I don't think I can do this indefinitely..:o
I used Tesco EDV spagetti, on a bed of baby spinach.. with home-made spicy tom sauce with courgettes and fresh basil. Can't wait for lunch now...:T
I know everyone wants to bail on May - I really don't blame you... I think everyone should do something tomorrow as a treat.. buy a Costa if you have the pennies.. or a Starbucks...
We need to be in good spirits to hit June with a big debt-busting stick!!! It seems many want to recompense for a sh*te May and it's best to start on a good note..
Right off to do some work.....#notreally

Morning. Had my hair cut yesterday too but was a planned spend that I'd already taken out. So I then ignored the urge for chocolate and went home and got some jobs done. Today is my challenge. If I can get through the wet weather and entertain the kids for free then I have survived half term!!! Onwards and upwards. I like the sound of that. I have a little over £7 in my purse, which should still be there tomorrow - and if it is then I'll do exactly that with it. It's been a long, hard, miserable month and the fact that it's still cold and raining doesn't help with that at all.
Today should be a SFD, docs appointment then visiting my sister later. Hopefully nothing nasty and unexpected will crop up. And I can look forward to the rain stopping tomorrow and enjoying a cuppa in the sun *(we can all dream)*Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

Thrifty I am liking this list.. I shoulda added in " read all your books" to the challenge but I can't even do that with the few I have left from my book purge. And can you believe I don't miss any of them... The declutter will enable you to see just how much stuff you have and it will be really difficult when it comes to replacing the stuff even with new things.. you will be super tough on yourself.. I like it... can't wait to see how you get along!
Read all my book in the book shelves already. Got a new one recently and after that one it will be off to the library.
Finished sorting my wardrobe yesterday and was ruthless. If I don't wear it or it's gotten a bit too shabby it went. Felt good. Got our lawn mower engagement present yesterday so it'll be the shed next to make space for it.
Another three NSDs bagged this week but tomorrow should be a spend day as DS needs an outfit for the wedding on Sat. Probably just pop into Primark and my treat will be a top for me for under £10.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
I have 54p to my name... everyone in my office has went out for a breakfast roll of some sort... I WANT AN EGGY BAP!... but I am skint. I think my "reward" money for the next months challenge might be a fry up on the last day of the month formally known as a Friday fry-Up... However I have no lee-way whatsoever in my budhet... #humph..
I also cracked my temporary crown yesterday and swallowed the whole thing along with some crumpets I had last night. GREAT!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Kat, on payday friday someone does a breakfast run and usually we all get a bacon cob or full english or some sort from the local sandwich shop. Its something to look forward to at the end of the month.
Again I wont be on board with the challemnge in June, but I cant even find it has it been posted yet?0 -
Hi all
So much to catch up on! LAGL glad to hear your news about the debts but sorry to hear about the bereavement too, yeah it makes you think doesnt it?
Well we have been on our little 2 day camping trip and it was brilliant. I did slip up though, we went to Tesco for some food and spent £25. Shopping when hungry and with 2 kids in tow, not a good idea, lesson learnt for the future. Other than that though we didnt spend anything and the campsite only cost £16.
Kat, I am not surprised when you say you cant do those hours indefinitely, I think a lot of us would struggle short term!!
So my June budget is set in stone, I have to keep it on track (do I say that at the end of every month?). We are on holiday in August and I havent really managed to save anything for it. We have also got a couple of weekends away to visit family coming up.
Day at home today, actually I am still in my pjs. I am taking the kids out tomorrow, Mum won some free tickets for a local stately home. I have a little bit of cash in my purse and that has to last us. I like the idea of a little end of the month treat but I think I have had mine this week with the kids being off!
Onwards and upward everyone!0 -
Morning all,
Hugs to LAGL xx
Congrats Rosie on paying off the CC, it's a great feeling isn't it
My treat tomorrow is using a carvery voucher I have for a 2-course meal for 2 for £10, drink on top each and it's a fab night out for £15 for me and Hubby.
Looking forward to June, I didn't think May was too bad (mind you I had a holiday in there) I'm feeling rather positive about it all. My main aim for June is to put £600 in the ISA, eek!0
