NinjaSavingKat wrote: »Sarah174 your Fleabaying puts us all to shame.. did you use "save template".. that helped me no end the other day... I actually managed to sell something for £3 last week and due to work haven't been able to send it... whoopsie! And the cleaning.. good grief thats sounds epic..! Am well impressed..
I try and find lots of similar things to sell at the same time and always use the quick sell (i.e. the fast version), list one item, then when that is loaded click on 'sell similar', just changing the picture, details and category too if it's needed. Got the hang of it now on auction autopilot and have a huge £2.50 of bids in so far...
Tonight has been very quiet in comparison. Got in from work and have spent almost the entire evening reading the new Sophie Kinsella book, could not put it down and it's 400 pages. Started and finished it in three hours, I am a fast reader, I did an English degree and had a LOT of books to read ha ha. Lent it from a friend too so didn't have to buy it, how MSEA good book and a cuppa, can't think of a better evening than that!

Evening everyone,
Congratulations LAGL, that's fantastic news.
Well I've actually had a SFD today. Had to really force myself not to buy a drink while we were in town and wait until we got home. All the budgets have been sorted for June and even though my aims have changed I will still try and put any spare money away to pay more off the credit cards.
Over the bank holiday weekend I've been doing some gardening spurred on by NSK. I exchanged some of my clubcard vouchers for gardening items including Lobelia plugs for my hanging baskets. DS and I have sewn runner beans, tomatoes and pumpkin seeds that my mum bought me for Xmas. I also have sunflower seeds to sew into tin cans that I've painted green to sit on the windowsill. I've also decluttered quite a lot so our bedroom is looking a bit better if not else. I think for June I'm going to focus on decluttering the house even if it doesn't make me extra cash.
I've had a look at the June challenge list and I will really try and reduce the grocery and entertainment spends for this month. Our only big events are DH is doing the Three Peaks Challenge this weekend, a farm visit with play group but they are paying the entrance fee and DH's birthday where we are going to Alton Towers but his parent's are paying for that so all good.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Fantastic news LAGL! Congratulations :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
L2B I love your justification of buying new underwear. Mine were in the same condition and I threw them in the washing machine with my faded black jeans and some black dye to give them a new ease of life! Not the holey ones though
Poor diet Buffy? You're in the right place. We seem to have become a little obsessed with food over the last few weeks. Hang around and we'll have you back on track!
So my day started at the hairdresser where I was able to pay cash :T Had most of it left in my misc budget but a lovely payment dropped into my account this morning so I was able to get my hair done, leave a tip and best of all, transfer another £80 to my Opus credit card :j I was home by lunchtime and had to climb under a blanket on the sofa with my hot water bottle because it was so cold - again! It was so wet I stayed there all afternoon and worked through my To Do list. My payslip was published today as well so I was able to accurately plan for June. When I did a rough calculation a few weeks ago I had about £100 spare that I could throw at the debt but today I worked out I had £350 spare - not sure how worried I should be that I've forgotten something
Sarah, I love Sophie Kinsella's books! I downloaded her last one and loved reading it on my iPad but I felt so disappointed afterwards that I couldn't pass it on to someone else. It seemed such a waste. Having said that, it's £7.49 to download and about £12ish to buy the hardback copy. Looks like I've found where the first spend from June's misc budget is going0 -

Hiya, congratulation LAGL!!!!
Had a terrible couple of months now, but have officially no more money until Friday, its OK really I have more than enough food, enough fuel until I go back to work on Thursday and enough things to do to keep me going until then.
Im making no excuses because it is all down to me spending the banks money (my OD) and not earning very much in the way of wages (I only work p/t and are low paid, again my choice) so I have to rein it all in, hide the debit card just draw out the minimum of money to live on in June, grit my teeth and fight my way through it. Just signed up for June, and KAT you write very wise words, I just wish I had the same determination as you, well this coming month I will be trying hard to cut everything back to the bare bones!!
Talking of undergarments - I actually mended a pair of knickers the other day, I thought the top elastic stuff was coming away, so had decided to throw them, but when I looked I somehow had managed to put a hole in them !! so out came the needle and thread and I mended them lol I think they will be an emergency pair now, just in case .........!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations LAGL:T:T:T:TGreat to hear such a positive & fabulous bit of news!
Sorry to hear things have been a bit rough Buffy. Still amazing to hear you've handed in your notice...life is too short to put up with that kind of headache everyday. Good luck in finding something that will bring you more happiness.
Spend day courtesy of sister's birthday week. Have to keep reminding myself that her birthday excusions are still cheaper than if we had gone abroad for this week as planned...roll on June though!:idea:LBM @1/4/13 £15,754

morning all, been AWOL for a little while getting through exams and a busy weekend of work.
things went a little wonky last week with the big exam but it's done so I'm free! And looking forward to the June challenge :j
HUGE congratulations to LAGL - I read your post and it really chimed with me, we're almost the same age and I'm in the same boat, been in debt pretty much since I started uni the first time. I am fed up of this and can't wait to be free of it! I can't imagine the relief.
NSK - you asked a while ago and I never replied but I'm a musician - kinda professional but just gone back to uni to study full time for another 3 years (just finished my first year, cannot believe where the time has gone!)
see you in Sparta! X0 -
Delurks:
Gooood morning!
Cant wait for June either to joinin again. Why am I always so enthusiastic at the start and then it fades....Anyway, had some more good news. From July the DD for gas and leccy will be reduced by £40 and DS is moving up to the 2-3 year old in a couple of week which should also save about £40 a month.
Also finalised my numbers for June. And I'll have that CC paid off again after the July pay check and still some money saved if all goes to plan.
I already made a list of things I want to change/achieve in the next few months to save money and feel happier:
- don't buy any more books, revive library membership
- read more and watch less telly or only really stuff I want to watch rather than having nothing else to do (hubby want to cancel virgin anyway, have to remind him)
- cancel gym membership (cycle to work anyway and might go out for lunch time cycle/walk instead) --> save £17.45 a month (might have a couple of months notice though)
- drink less coffee, rather tea --> cheaper and healthier
- have one craft evening a week
- start a long term saving account even just with 30 quid (in 20 years it's £7200 plus interest)
- not that I have been shopping for me in ages with real money, but I felt the temptation recently, so no shopping for me (clothes) till christmas unless I get vouchers
- DECLUTTER
The "drink less coffee" goes ok so far as I had tea this morning. But got my finger stuck in the kilner jar snap thingy so got a really sore finder for it.
Sorted some more of my clothes last night. Tonight I'll just have the tops left to do and to sort the bags for charity shop or clothes bank.
Have a lovely day

I've had a little spendy morning but not feeling too guilty about it. Promised the hubby a nice dinner as he's having a !!!!py day at work and will be really late home. His favourite is roast dinner so I went to the butchers and got a joint of pork (£6.50 for a massive joint of meat which will easily do 2 days - so lucky having a friend who is a butcher), then went to c0-0p as I had no potatoes (and that's my local store) and spent £5.85 getting everything on yellow sticker. I got potatoes, broccoli, lettuce, sweetcorn, cat food, turkey mince. Particularly pleased with the cat food as that can get expensive.
Then dd and I went to our local cat charity to donate some food that I bought a load of and both of our cats have turned their noses up at. While we were there I spent another tenner in their charity shop getting myself a rainmac (brand new), a dress (potentially to wear for a wedding), a pair of shorts for ds and a headband and a book for dd. This is me done spending for May, I hope as it's still another couple of days until payday - I have no plans and our cupboards are full.Ninja Saving Turtle0
