Morning Chickadees... anyone else shattered today? I struggled to get up but not as much as I struggled to figure out what to bring for lunch today. Seems like I relied to heavily on the stash of Quinoa and Brown Lentils that I have stashed away in my cupboards meaning following my stint at the swimming pool yesterday dinner was a crazy affair casue I was so lazy...

...(Veggie sausage, cheese and tomatoe in whole meal pitta with hot sweet chilli sauce, a plate of broccoli, peppadew peppers, cucmber slices... a cup of tea, a packet of Morrisons "Savers" crisps and a glass of yoghurt (from the £1 1KG tub from Asda) with leftover apple cubes shoved in the middle with a sprinkle of seeds on top... )...

Thriftylass...it's a learning curve. Less fruit next shop and more veg, some pasta and more cheese for me next time. You live and learn. I have ingrediants for Vietnamese spring rolls in the house so that should amuse me for one evening at least...;-)..How are you getting better..?

Another SFD today hopefully - more scheming for eBaying tonight and hopefully an easy weekend...

Onwards and Upwards - hope everyone is happy and stashing cash. Been a bit quiet on here recently and thought I lost you all for a bit...:(

I used to be only good at it towards the end of the month when money was tight. But this month I had to pay the roofer and the new tyres so that happened earlier :o. But also in general I make things last longer (I thought I already did that but maybe not :o). I used to do the usual big shop the day of/after I got paid. Spend £150 quid on what I thought was necessities (still bought things that were on offer and thought useful only then to eat them because i had them) which were gone in a week leaving me with useless items and the need for another big shop (don't really understand it now to be honest). Whereas now I only do small weekly shops tailored to what has run out. Common sense really. So not entirely sure what has changes exactly but it has. We're already at a spend of £110 this month but no way is that going up to the £300+ again.

    EDIT:

Submitted my new meter readings for April and am finally in credit by £30. I think our usage for gas and leccy will only have been £50 this time as the gas is right down and leccy a bit too. We pay £106 a month so I guess in no time we'll have built up the £150 you need to get an automated payback otherwise they keep it for the months where we use more again.

I read all your posts avidly everyday, and I was just wondering what success people have had with the April challenge: writing letters to companies telling them how fab their products are in the hope of receiving some freebies. I don't seem to remember reading about whether people found it worked and received free things in the post as a result?!

Admire everyone's efforts on here! :T

NicNocs thanks for your post. The idea was an added extra for people to try and see what could be gained for free. For me I want toothpaste and deoderant and little necessitites I could rule out having to buy...lol! I read about a guy in America who kept a spreadsheet and wrote to 100 companies and recorded how they responded. Many sent samples or vouchers but he was bolshy.."I like your product because... can I have a free one now!..Cheeky Chops! Ha!

I am not sure anyone was in the mind to try this due to price of stamps and life getting in the way. April was a right struggle for me, financially and being able to sit down for too long and I think many others felt the same.... I literally thought of this yesterday though and might attempt it myself so I could at least report back the UK results. I have a personal thread where I will record it once it's happened (Ultimate Challenge )... but would love to know if anyone else got something back as well....

    Morning all,

Hoping today will be a SFD. Need to sort a menu and shopping list ready for tomorrow. Also want to try and batch cook meals so I can freeze some to take down to Wales the week after but stick to my £80 budget.

Also got hair appt tomorrow morn (should be £5ish) then a meeting with mortgage advisor although we're now not looking to move for another 18 months.

I'm letting mine grow again so I can cut my own. Had a bobcut for a while but £40 every two months was just too much. Whereas when it's long I can cut my own layers etc.

I'm going for a complete restyle as I'm approaching 40 and have had a bob (in various lengths) since I was 17. Usually I just have a dry cut for £3 every 3 months or so. I do cut Hubby's hair to save money, 6mm all over :D

Progress Report ; Another £21.60 paid off the Bike Loan. Need to find a furhter £80.80. Work Union cancelled saving £12 a month. Whoop!

Thrifty I like your planning... I have had a pair of hair cutting scissors for years to do my own fringe and took them to my hair when the ends were getting ratty - Mine is passed my bra strap though so can easily disguise "errors"..... we are nuts but needs must! Lol!
