    Hello all,

A quick login as work is busy (though you'd not know looking at my lazy colleague doing diddly-squat!)

Spent just under £5 at the market and £1 on a bag of salad leaves from Mr T's, change to go into the savings pot so my £80 weekly budget has been spent.

Will give having no tv a go till the end of the month and see how we go. Can't afford to buy new box so don't really have a choice :)
Managed fine yesterday, thought dd might kick off but she watched a DVD instead and then played with her toys, so much better for her, I had some work to do so got on with that so wasn't too bad.
I've checked out tv licensing and from what i have read as long as I don't watch tv online while its actually on I will be ok, will double check before actually cancelling. I always used to record everything anyway and then watch 2 or 3 episodes of a series in 1 go and fast forward the adverts so shouldn't be any different just need to check if tv has hdmi outlet and will be sorted.
  • Morning all (I mean afternoon..) - well we were "up" most of the night with DD - sore tooth due to an abscess and calpol/brufen in any combination wasnt doing it. Thankfully we have a good dentist now so called at 8.30 and she was seen at 10.00. She is now on antibiotics so hopefully that will help. My planned SFD has gone, dentist £15 Boots for antibiotics and drugs (and wax strips for me) £20. Oh and I discovered that my swimsuit needed replacing on friday - in the wrong lights it was a getting a little thin - new swim suit which will fit well £40. Anyway thought I would go the whole hog and get the 3 months worth of cat tablets for £50 later today. £125 in a few hours!!! ARGGGGGGHHHHH!!!:eek::eek:

The good news is my new bike tyres to rid me of spare tyres have arrived so I know what DH is doing tonight.

Stationery Spender - there was nothing to see so fear not - DH has some tlc work to do to the shed next weekend - I will be keeping the back door closed just in case though. I am no longer prepared to empty the compost bin either!:eek::eek:

Right need to work - if I can stay awake!

    Love LAGL xx

Just a quickie from me at the moment....http://www.lowcostliving.co.uk/... I think I will be on this website and reading everything for a while now that I am allowed to have things in pots outside on the patio. Ironic that I am paying for a massive area of land that I am not benefitting from in any shape or form. Kinda jealous of my Dad's little eco-plot he's got going on...
But it's all for the greater good. I would love to be self sufficient one day!

NSK I can recommend the river cottage grow your own book - has a good section on using containers, then how to choose what to grow and recipes :)

  • Sorry not to check in yesterday, I was busy having free fun in the sun! Not quite a SFD, but only groceries and train tickets to York for hen do.

Ran errands and then I met a friend in town and went to Oxford Art Weeks - part time and professional artists put on small exhibitions of their work in garages, and homes and back garden studios. It's amazing and so inspiring. Beautiful artwork and often beautiful houses too!

After, we went back to my friends house for a couple of Pimms and an ice cream and a natter, and then took the dog for a walk. Really lovely day, and low on consumption of stuff. perfect!

Wading in on the TV debate - if it came to it I wouldn't have a TV either. I've always lived with people who do and so that's why there's been one. I'm hoping the next move will be to a place of my own and so a TV will be waaaaay down the list after pots of paint and furniture :D

Right then... do I go to the cinema tonight like a loser on my own or stay in..? Hmmmmm decisions!

I managed to only spend £28.28 today on my epic shopping trip. I didn't quite make it back to the train station on the first stop and had to wait until the next one, straight through then to the stop after mine for Lidls and got lots more fruit than I would have got in Tesco's... one more stop tonight to Morrisons for cheap bread and crisps - (needs must)...

Okay I am going to see Oblivion...I can walk there via Morrisons. It's a perk to living so close and I am determined to get my money's worth... They are £8.70 per ticket after 1830 and I pay £15.90 a month to watch as many as I want... Skinflint I am! Lol!

Hope everyone got through their day okay... I am planning for another 5 SFD's after today and am determined to get as many SFD's this month as possible. I am in awe of you lots with kids that manage ANY SFD's...

Okay enough - need food before a two hour film!!

    Onwards and Upwards!!

    EDIT-Total spent = £30.25... Whoop! (Loser)

    Evening everyone,

Kat, that sounds like an epic shopping trip. Bit like I used to be before I had a 3 year old and growing bump :rotfl:

Had another spend day today but all in budget again. £9.50 for afternoon tea with my sister (entertainment budget), £1.35 for name tags for DS's uniforms (clothing budget) and £4.02 for small food shop (grocery budget). We had ran out of milk as I'm craving weetabix so had to go but never mind.

Wednesday and Thursday WILL BE SFDs.
