Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

You ever lived there? it might appear lovely, but pull back that twee, dry stone clad veneer, and you will find a classic valley mentality with locals with a penchant for casual violence, domestic abuse, drug/ alcohol abuse and no sodding parking due to flamin "tourists".

Much better to live in some of the surrounding villages as they can be lovely. Although you may still encounter the cumerinner attitude from the yokels.

I went to Huddersfield Uni, and travelled from Milnsbridge to uni every day. It took about 5 - 10 minutes by bus. I felt perfectly safe, even returning on my own after a good night out! The bus service to Golcar and Milnsbridge is very regular, about every 10 minutes, as it is serviced by 2 bus companies.
We have never had any trouble living here, and it certainly is not as bad as some would have you believe. (and thats from 25 years of personal experience!)
Sorry, but I am yet to meet a person that is inbred, and have lived here for 25 years! And I can't say that I know any alcoholics or drug users.
*Wonders where in Huddersfield you have been *

If you wish to see native inbreds spend an evening in the Nook in holmfirth you cant miss em :rotfl:. You may not "know" any druggies or alchies, but unless they have all died I assume the Fury family still lurk outside the bus station, drinking, fighting and crapping on the floor.

Lived in Linthwaite, Upperthong and Farnley Tyas :D but did frequent other areas at times ;)

    Hi All,

I was hoping to get some advice please! I am thinking of moving to Wakefield, I need to be close to Westgate Rail Station so I can commute for work. Does anyone have any recommendations of an area within 10-15mins walk of the station of which to buy a house or flat?

I have seen a few things around the Dewsbery Road area, what are peoples thoughts??

    Thanks!!!
  • Hi

I live in Hessle outside Hull and looking to move to South or West Yorkshire as I now work outside Barnsley near to Grimethorpe on a newish Industrial park called Park Springs.

I want to live between 5-20miles from where I work, anyone got any ideas? I want somewhere that is quiet during the week but has a few pubs and a bit of life on a weekend, low crime rate and good amenities. Ackworth is one place that seems lovely.

Depending on budget, there are alot of nice places between Barnsley and Wakefield. Woolley and Notton are gorgeous but expensive. Closeish to Wakefield for the night life. You may fall on somewhere reasonable though. Silkstone is nice too.

I've not been to Ackworth much but seems to be ok from what I've heard!
