Claiming from Halifax £1130 inc interest
Original Offer - £593.50
Offered £1000 - accepted
I started my claim back in May and have followed the tips given on this forum with success. I received the initial "your complaint has been declined" letter and sent the 2nd letter threatening court back to the bank. A week later I called the 0845 1241300 number to ask for an update and they said it would be re-evaluated and should hear within 8 weeks. After reading peoples success I gave them a call on 01977 627422 and was VVV polite and asked if it could be looked at any quicker. The nice gentleman on the phone said no problem and I should have an OFFER within 3 days. Arrived home yesterday (2 day wait) and lo and behold an offer of £593.50. This morning I called the same 01977 number and got the same gentleman as last week. I thanked him for his quick response but said I wasn't happy with the amount offered. We eventually settled at £1000 which is full amount less interest, success I think!!!! Money should be credited to my account within 14 days - yipee!!
I have pretty much the same story as yourself, except i started mine at the end of April.
Unfortunately for me i'm getting the message that my claim is still in the queue for re-evaluation and i will have to wait until my 8 weeks are up.
This happens next Monday and i suppose i can wait another week but its annoying that some of the people that we speak to can be so helpful wheras other are little help at all.
I have made 3 calls - 1 0n 1/6/7 to ask for re-evaluation, 1 on 4/6/7 to ask for a timescale on this and today 1 to check on progress to be told there had been no progress!
Just wish this could hurry up and be resolved.0 -
Has anyone got throug to the 01977 number this morning?
When i call, the phone answers without ringing and i can hear people talking ie office noise, but noone has actually answered the phone!!
Edit:
Got through and spoke to a man and he said that he would speak to the guy who is investigating it and i should have a letter by Wednesday.
He also said that they are sympathetic to customer concerns so upon receipt of this letter i should call them back and voice any concerns i had with it ie they will offer me half and i shoudl ring for full amount!
Definately recommend using the 01977 number as the staff on 0845 124 1330 seem to be no help at all.0 -
Does anyone know if you have to have your customer 'complaint' number when you ring, cos I've left it at home and want to badger them at lunchtime :rotfl:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

I just rang the number and the same thing happened to me, tried it quite a few times too. Each time there was different noises and conversations in the background so it can't be an answerphone message. How did you get through??
EDIT Okay, scrap that got through! The guy was really nice and helpful (if you're reading, thank you). He said he saw my claim was opened last week to be looked at but then closed again and said it was a bit confusing. But he said he is going to pass it to his colleague to look at and I'll have a letter by the end of this week. My original date of claim letter was 21st May btw..
So, fingers crossed!!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi. Wonder if anyone can help. After finally getting a list of my charges (Originally requested this on 18th April, finally received on 16th June) I am now going to send the letter requesting for a refund of my charges. Can anyone tell me which address they wrote to when sending this letter. I don't want to have the excuses again of them never receiving anything I write to them.
Thanks0 -

My first letter was 17 May, i've been given the 16 July as a reply by date... without trawling through the boards.... what is this new number you are all using?0 -
The halifax were served on the 16th June, done it through my local court. Fully expect my friends at the Halifax to defend. Just checking my paperwork, the last letter said they would look in to my 'complaint!' and get back to me no later than the, wait for it, the 16th June. As they have failed to do this, will this give me an advantage, when I ring them tomorrow, gonna haggle for a settlement?.0

Sorry............just to add, this has now passed the eight week date. In hindsight, glad I went to court.0
