I sent off for my partners halifax charges (£1300). It took the full 40 days for the statements and the full 8 weeks before they send a letter saying they are standing by the charges and are not offering any compensation. He called them yesterday (different number 01977 627280) to be told that they will put him through for a stage 2 complaint which takes a further 4 weeks. I mean, this is just ridiculous!!! Especially strange when they settled my claim on my account in full at the end of 8 weeks!!!!

After ringing on friday to say that I wanted my claim to be re-evaluated and being told to try ringing again 2 days after they recieved my letter threatening court action they put £187.35 into my account on sat and after ringing them again today a further £262.65 went in today!!

I have put this on the sucsess thread but I wanted people to know to keep ringing Halifax. They seem to be giving in!

halifax received my letter threatening court action on 14/05/07 where i stated i would like a reply within 14 days of them receiving it.
even allowing this to be 14 working days this would have passed on 31/05/07 so i called them on 01/06/07 and asked to be reinvestigated.

i then called on 04/06/07 to see when this may be done by and was told that it would take 8 weeks from my initial claim on which is 21/06/07.

i take it from what you said that they have only received your court letter so i was wondering if they gave you any reason why they dealt with your case so quickly.
I am claiming about the same amount as what you have been paid so hopefully they can resolve mine quicker than they have said.

Thanks for that I was going to ring them again on friday but may ring them tomorrow to see what is happening. If not I have a complaint lined up with the FSO as I cannot afford MCOL fees what with having a daughter to look after and a new house to fill up with rubbish

    Hi

I believe you would need to raise an "ordinary cause" at your local sheriff court. you can check this out on https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk. Hope this helps.

    Hi 75 scruffy,
You can also go through the Financial Ombudsman Services. Their service is free of charge, but you need to write to bank to request a refund first and allow them 8 weeks to give you a satisfactory reply. after that, you hand your case over to the FOS

Yet the Halifax is based in england (check the address on he bottom of your statements), so you could use MCOL if you like.
