    Hi,
I've just received my reply from the yorkshire Bank to Martin's first template letter claiming £5422 (including interest) from the Yorkshire Bank. they have of course rejected my request and claimed that I was fully aware of all their charges and can't see why I would want to claim any money bank.
I've completed the second template letter and am sending this back in today and will wait to see what happened.
Thanks for all the advice on the website/forum it's put my mind at rest as I am a little worried about what will happen next.
    Thanks
    KHEric:o

I've just received my letter this morning refusing to pay up and stating all the terms and conditions etc.. and that I knew this when I started banking with them yadder yadder yadder...in short..."Sod off love you're getting nothing."

I've just finished step 4's letter and will let you know what happens. There seems to be a real lack of Yorkshire Bank posts and that worries me al little. Trust me to be in a flipping bank that doesn't give in as easily as all the rest!!!

Incidentally, in my letter I've opted for the without prej. and have offered to take just the charges they owe me without inteerest to see if this softens them up a bit.

I'll let you know how it goes. It should be a response within 7 days so I'll post it on Monday.

£188 would sure come in handy right now. Just received a ridiculous energy bill from Npower!!!
  • Hi all,
i am new to this so apologise if there is already a forum for this ..... however I have been looking through the messages and could not find any success stories relating to any claims made against Yorkshire bank for the refund of their charges and as to wether they then close the account.
i ask because i am thinking about claiming back the charges we have had but the bank has been very accomodating for us in the years we have been with them and the £3000 o/d has come in very handy at times and at present
We do not want to offend them and loose their good will but i am certain that over the years we have had excessive charges that prehaps without we would not need the overdraft.
Any advise and result tales would be great to help make my decision as to proceed with the claim at all.

thanks for any replys in advance
  • Just registered today for this chat forum. Have been reading all about peoples experieces for quite some time and finally plucked up the courage to send my letter to the Yorkshire Bank last week - haven't heard anything so far!!

I agree, there doesn't seem to be much on here about Yorkshire Bank so just wanted to offer my support and say that i'll be going through the process too. It does all sound very daunting but with the help and support of others I'm sure we'll get through it.

  • Is there anybody who can help, I've just had my mum going crazy on the phone, she went £3 overdrawn and her bank have charged her £25, she's been with them for 25 years and it is on an account that the bank advised my mum to open, they have a 2nd property and they have also taken this mortgage out with Yorkshire Bank, surely it's not fair when they've been good customers for 25 years and the bank must have made quite a bit out of them, please help, she needs advice before she storms down there shortly.

If this is the only charge she has incurred. A phone call may work for her. Tell her not to get angry on the phone or in the branch (it won't help her case).

Tell her to say to the bank.............

You are aware now that bank charges are unlawful (don't use illegal). Tell them if they wont refund the charges, you will pursue the refund in writing, and issue a court claim if neccesary. A court claim will add on interest, and court fees to the amount you are claiming.

This has worked for people that only have one or two charges to reclaim.

  • I have just sent my bank the letter before action. In 7 days I will be taking court action but my bank is Yorkshire bank, do I commence action against them or their parent company Clydesdale Bank? If so does anyone know the addresses of their head offices that I should use? Im dead set on taking it all the way but want to get my facts right from the off.

    Cheers guys
