Just made a telephone call to Yorkshire Bank head office to find out where my statements are....and i put put through to a voice recording saying....DUE TO HIGH DEMAND REQUESTING STATEMENTS, THERE IS A DELAY IN CUSTOMERS RECEIVING STATEMENTS AND IT WILL TAKE LONGER THAN THE 40 DAY PERIOD. This is absolutly rediculous. If Yorkshire Bank would stop being so stubborn and trying to fight these charges, there would not be a delay grrrrrrrrrrrr. I am so annoyed

Last october I started my claim against Yorkshire Bank for around £2200. I was offered £1400 early this year but I refused the offer. Yorkshire Bank applied for a stay so that added a few months on. I'm in the RAF and I ended up overseas at short notice and never gave it a second thought. On my return I've discovered that I was due at court late in May and I've obviously missed this. There's no other communication from Yorkshire Bank or the court.
Have I missed the boat here? I need to speak to the court and find out my options tomorrow. Has this completely ruined my chances of getting my money back or can I still pursue the claim?
    Thanks in advance.
  • After 3 months of hell trying to get the bank to pay up got a nice cheque for the full amount claimed plus the interest and charges total £1798, be strong and be prepared to go all the way as i did coz it pays off in the end.:j :T :rotfl:

Thank you for your reply, i will deffo fight till the end, they are just doing their best to drag it out as long as possible. Did you have to threaten court? or did you not have to go as far as that. I reckon my charges could mount up to approx 3-4K. But would be nice to even get statements to have a look. Well done on ur money back.

I don't think so. :) I'm sure the court will look at your circumstances favourably ;)

I started my claim in december last year, my court date was for the 28th june in leeds, Yorkshire Bank sent me a cheque for the full amount this morning 2755.17, good luck everyone
  • Hello everyone.
Started my claim against Yorkshire Bank at the end of April. Requested statements and included a £10 postal order. They were a little late sending them all back but eventually recieved them. Sent a letter detailing all unfair charges and asked for them back. Recieved standard 'you agreed to terms and conditions' etc, etc. Wrote back giving them 7 days and when they did not reply took them to court via Moneyclaim online. Again they did not respond so on the 5th June applied for judgement by default. This was granted, however, about a week later i recieved a letter from the court explaining that the bank had submitted an acknowledgement in time but due to problems with courts e-mail system they had not recieved it. Judgement was set aside, and they had a further 14 days to submit a defence. Nothing happened, so i applied for judgement again on the 19th June. Its now Saturday 23 June and i recieved a cheque this morning for the full amount of my claim, including interest.
The moral of this story is, Yorkshire bank appear to be one of the more difficult banks to deal with and they will make it hard for you, but if you stick at it, be patient and follow the instructions on the website it will be worth it in the end.
    Good luck.

To reclaim my 1st account charges which are £1,294 the Financial Ombudsman have acknowledge my letter and they have said they are looking into it but could take time as there is a big demand now for bank charges going to them instead of the courts i recieved the letter last monday which was the 18th of june will keep you posted
