so if you're *that* rural just designate somewhere for parcels to be left.

    It's not *that* easy. ;)

I am very rural to the point of no neighbours, but our property is totally secure with electric code entry gates, so if we are out then there is no 'safe place' to leave.

I've just bought an item delivered by myhermes from QVC. (I didn't know who it was going to be couriered by.) As I've had parcels stolen from my porch, I now have a large sign saying please do not leave parcels in the porch because it's not secure, and asking people to leave any deliveries with the houses on either side.
Myhermes left it in the porch - I was actually in, but they didn't bother knocking to find out.
Completely put me off using them in future.

No offense, but if you live in a place with big electronic entry gates and no neighbours, you can buy a lockable box purposely designed for items to be dropped into. I'm sure your time would be wiser spent buying one of them than searching for the answer on forums? ;)

It's rural, but I do live in a block of flats (yes, they do exist in the country). There is no garden or outbuildings or anything like that. As soon as I can get a new job I will be moving to an area that has some decent shops!

I left negative feedback. I also marked the stars accordingly and fairly 1 for communication and post charges but 5 for item as described (as it was) and 4 for dispatch time.

I have just had this message

"How dare you give me negertive feedback over shipping please send it back to me and I will give you a full refund I have reported you to ebay you should NOT buy things on ebay I have had 100% feedback for years unitl you have spoilt it"

Like I explained to them I do not want to send it back, it would cost me and I have no issue with the product, just the dispatch of it.

    what/how should I reply?

    thanks

personally I would not reply at all, This sellers tone means all your going to be doing is getting into an argument, you've explained your issues with shipping and your desire to keep the item, they have your money you have the item, the sale is complete.

Keep all emails though just in case ebay get in touch.

Factually. They moved the goalposts without telling you. You are within your rights to express dissatisfaction by the method Ebay dictate; feedback.

well I replied as I thought it was only fair to try to explain one last time - I wouldn't like it if someone left me negative and I didn't know why so sent this

Like I tried to explain I have no issue with the product so returning it will not help. Its the fact you stated you would use royal mail for delivery. When I am out the postman leaves a card and I can collect the parcel at my convince from the sorting office 1 mile away which is open till 7pm and on Saturdays. When a carrier delivers (which is how you actually sent the item) I live no where near any carrier depots and have to be in to accept delivery. I had to re-arrange my schedule so I could be here to receive the parcel, something I would not have had to do if you sent by royal mail (as the listing stated). I would not have bid if you had stated you were using a carrier. You just changed the dispatch method without contacting me to ask if it was acceptable (which it wasn't) that is the reason for my feedback as the feedback states.

I hope this helps you understand why I have taken this action.

    then got this reply

This not expectable i have reported you to eBay please send item back we do not want to deal with you I have been selling on eBay for many years with 100% feedback sell worldwide please remove the feedback you have left us.
I have spoken to eBay today and they feel that is unfair what you have done you have seven days to return it back and we will give you full refund and the cost of shipping it back to us.

I am not going to reply again. Its not worth it but I do want to take it up with ebay now as to why they think I have been unreasonable, does anyone know who I go about this?
  • Personally I wouldn't have left negative feedback. It's just ridiculous.

to be honest if the supplier had just apologised then the outcome might have been different but they didn't instead they choose to call me 'silly'. I appreciate they havn't been particularly rude but it is still not good communication as they were in the wrong. Any potential buyer has the means to look at feedback and they can judge if they think it is ridiculous and if they agree no harm done it will not put them off bidding.
