seller sent an item by my hermes

I sent the seller a message explaining I was not happy with the use of a carrier when they stated royal mail and that I had paid enough to cover the royal mail charges.
The reply was "I hear this silly send it back to us and we will give you a full refund"
For a start I do not appreciate being called silly and sending it back does not help I never said I didn't want the item! To send it back now means I would be out of pocket as i would have to pay return post!0 -
I'd just leave a negative - you have the item, their lack of communication and ignorant response warrants one.0

Maybe English is not their first language? Perhaps they have not grasped the point you were making?0 -

Then they should have done a google translation on my message. I could appreciate this if I was verbally speaking to them. I can't speak french I would have no idea what a french person was saying, but with the help of the internet and a translation dictionary I would be able to work out written text in french.
if they are not prepared to put the effort into understanding messages then they should not be selling on ebay. I would also point that they managed quite successfully to read and understand the my hermes website to send the parcel.0 -
Yes, you are right of course, I would certainly give them low stars for comms and postage.0

Would your Hermes delivery person not leave the item in a safe place? Mine always does.
I am interested in opinions on this because I have just set up an account with them, and was very impressed with their service. I am thinking of switching to them completely rather than use RM. I wouldn't ask for a signature, but if people dislike couriers then it will reduce buyers.
Do people prefer to pay £5.20 rather than £3.00?
I have just had a collect plus parcel delivered and I asked what he would do if I was out, and he said he would leave in a safe place too unless a signature was needed.
I do not have a safe place and i think it shows the difference between a London dweller and someone who lives elsewhere. I have a fully secured house, no side gates or side wall, an attached garage (the walk through to the rear garden is within the garage. The drive only has a small retaining wall and my council forbid any bins or other junk to be left out. Unless they leave things in full view of passers by (and they do) there is no where at all to leave a parcel safely.
Personally I don't even buy expensive pots for my plants at the front as I don't trust them not to walk as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Incidentally on my own auctions I offer a courier plus Royal Mail (1st and 2nd) . I do mention at the end of my description (it is the only 'terms and conditions' I have, I tell people to choose the service that best suits them.
Since offering a courier I have not had one person select Royal Mail. However the choice is there as I know some people really dislike couriers, and i certainly would not change the postage method from that which they select.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, for that, yes, you may be right. Is leaving with a neighbour not an option either?
How do you list though? Courier in the drop down box, and then if not they message you?0 -

Yes I have the best neighbours in the world, but I would not expect them to take in all my parcels- they take in enough as it is. I think there is a difference in the postman or courier knocking there on the off chance they are in- and having an official 'safe place' with them. I can get upwards of 10 parcels a week on a good week.
As for my options, I list them all in a drop down box, so they are all there when I send an invoice and buyer can choose which they want. It is easy enough to do just use the 'offer other services' on the sell your item format listing page.
I also do that for all my overseas buyers, so I don't have to send an invoice- they automatically get charged the correct postage based on their country.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
