So you want the children to go alone into the mens changing rooms to see a whole load of men naked they don't know.

If that is your arguement then the children are best with their parent whatever sex they are.

7 and 8 is very young to be sent off to get changed on their own.

The OP has clearly stated there are family changing rooms where the children could change with their mother. No one was suggesting they use the men's changing room on their own.

Do you really take offence at them hanging around for a chat after they have got changed. Is it not nice to have a meet up with a friend and catch up. Social skills don't just land on you, they are developed over time, and I think it is lovely that they are not on electronic devices and having fun chatting after a fun filled swimming session.

No - I want them to use the ample family facilities, I've said this is nearly every post.
The boy(s) dont chat, just hang around waiting for the mother who chats.
There is actually an area with a table & chairs & drink/food machines to chat in, outside the changing rooms..

As one poster has said its 10 at her swimming baths then clearly there doesnt seem to be a national rule.
My BF is a childrens social worker, he feels 8 is too old for boys to be in the ladies or girls to be in the mens.

If I have a problem, I will take action to sort it out myself. I would not expect others to change their routine to suit me. In this case the OP is the one with the problem, and hence she is the one that needs to make a change.

Personally I don't see the issue - do you really think an eight year old boy is going to find a middle aged woman sexually attractive? :o

    OP,

I know that you shouldn't have to, but if the mother won't use the family rooms, would you feel more comfortable about the situation if you had one of those towelling cape/tent things to get changed under? A couple of bath sheets sewn together with a drawstring round the neck.

And social workers always get it right, don't they?

No offence meant, but his profession is not in the least bit relevant here.

There are two private cubicles in the changing room, but you can never get in them, they always have shy teenage girls cueing up to use them.
I will wear my cozzie if im in the communal shower, but not if I get into the small private one. But many of the ladies do strip off to shower & we all have to get naked to actually get into or out of our cozzies.

All the adult women strip off where I go swimming, it's only the teenagers who seem to think that this is odd.

Of course - I wondered if there was a rule about it somewhere, thats what I meant.
They have a fair idea of whats appropriate & whats concidered not, he feels at that age they should be in the private family facilities, as much for the boys sakes as the strange ladies.

It would feel selfish to take a family room for myself, but I guess its the answer.

I use a family one at my centre whether there are kids there are not. There's more room in them and somewhere to put all my gear.

I'm not even swimming, either - I'm there for the gym, but the gym changing rooms, although smarter and having NO kids, has only one cubicle, and I'm not whipping my bits out in front of anyone there, I'm afraid.

I swam about 14x a week for about 5 years..... I was never naked.

I shower in my cossie - and use big bath sheets and am careful/fast. You can get some big poncho style changing towels.

You've no chance of getting the kids moved, whole world revolves around them doing what they/their mums want these days.

And/or, I'd watch them when I was in the pool ..... and give them 20-30 minutes to get clear before I went into the changing area.
