children in communal changing rooms

I wouldn't get changed in a communal room regardless of who else was in there.
I'd be the one hiding away in the family cubicle!
I wouldn't entertain the thought of going swimming somewhere that didn't have private changing facilities.
All the pools in this area have cubicles, plus a communal changing area.
I don't like looking at my body so there's no way I'd inflict that on others :rotfl:
The family you're talking about aren't doing anything wrong, so it's either like it or lump it and go in the family cubicle yourself I'm afraid xTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I asked DD what she'd think if at age 8 she had been made to get changed for swimming in the same room as men and boys doing the same thing. She said she'd have rather not gone swimming. Ditto if an 8 year old boy appeared in a communal changing room nowadays. (She's 11 atm.) Once again, she said she'd rather not go swimming at all if this was the case.
I'd have said the same when I was young. At 8 I remember feeling very uncomfortable when my dad's friends commented about me growing up, because I thought they were referring to my breasts. I was so conscious of them! I was the only 8 year old who wore a bra, to my knowledge. I didn't even like getting changed in front of classmates, and used to wear a vest over the top of my bra so they wouldn't see my bra when we got changed for PE.
Also, I can see why an 11 year old girl wouldn't want an 8 year old boy in the same changing area. As a 41 year old woman it doesn't bother me if boys see my wobbly bits, but I can see why young girls would think an 8 year old boy was too old.
The only solution is to try to get the parent of the 8 year old to use a cubicle with them, or use a cubicle yourself, but in the OP's case where there aren't many cubicles I can see that she might feel selfish in blocking a cubicle that could be used for a family. I think it's the only way though, if you don't want to get changed in front of 8 year old boys.52% tight0
