Rent paid :) a roof will be over our heads for a while yet
Milk (9p) now in freezer having a snoozle
Looking up car insurance for DD to learn to drive

Insert a very scared face. If anyone has any advice please do share.

    Off to do banks etc

    Hope you're all good.

Did some teaching last night - no one died - always a good result.

Also think I have some FREE pork heading my way for some farm biodiversity report work I did to help someone..

    YAY

  • So I failed a bit in some ways on the store cupboard challenge.

I nearly doubled my 'challenge' spend - but it has helped to make me change my habits (although some do die hard)

October (non wedding) food spends I think could benefit from a similar challenge.

I think I'll be more realistic and aim for £100/month Grocery Challenge - the cupboards are emptying but like many I've still a lot in.

I'm sure wellyfest grub (£500 budget for buffet/supper) might also help fill up the stores again when we're home. We could probably do this a bit cheaper but we love fish so we'll see if we can have a treatsy time but keep the other bits quite frugal.

This weeks grub has been out of the cupboards mainly with the addition of that roast chook - onto its 3rd meal now.

Tea tonight is reduced cauli cheese and tatties - lots of milk so why not.

Guitar god is out practising his set so we're having a veggie night.

I have to confess that the scales (first time in a long time) my poundage (fat, not money) is nearly under 9st.

    Nearly.

I'm also joining many folks (including GP) on a reduced wine month - whilst I know there will be wine a flowing during wellyfest - I'd like to have a pretty quiet month.

    :)

Off to find those bubbling tatties.

With regards to insurance DS1 found it cheaper getting insured as a provisional driver. He paid up front and once he passed his test they gave him the difference back. If the person is insured for 10 months on a provisional that counts as 1 years no claims discount (guess who missed out on that). As soon as you pass the test though you have to tell them and get insurance else where. Hope that is as clear as mud. You can pay monthly it is slightly more expensive.

  • Hail Pippi and the Stripey Gang :hello:

All sounding very organised over here stripes! :T

I'd meant to ask - have you heard from 'our' KC lately? I was thinking of Essex Hebridean last night too. There was a superb wildlife doc on BBC 1 and it featured some wonderful owls in the same part of the world from which EH hails.

Free pork is not to be passed by. Pity it wasn't enough to feed an army, you'd only have to dig yourself a pit and you could have a DIY hog roast at wellifest '13 :rotfl: Each guest could have a 'turn' at turning the spit :D Boo to slugs in ya tatties though :(

    Non-food spend July 2025 £96.71/£50

  • Hey up greying I'll drop them both a wee nudge - :) that sounds like a great programme.

Organised? Moi - remind me that we mentioned that when I start to run about like a headless chook!

21 beds in the accommodation to manage some mischief in :) sure I'll think of something to forget!

Free pork for work in kind - that's a good un' isn't it - love the idea of a spit roast. :) Have asked for a lot of sausages if poss :)

    Boo indeed to slugs.

On a more positive note our service is now written and we've the final version - quite interesting this humanist malarkey.

I hope all is grand in greying towers. I'm loving all your meals. :)

OK will look into that - I had looked at similar policies but yours does make sense.

She's looking to get through her test quickly - so maybe her own policy would be a good idea.

THanks L I really appreciate you taking the time to post that info!

  • Busy day tomorrow as out on the recyclingmobile.

Have made my pieces for munching (save on the spends)
Have set the alarm for early as Mr Me is off on the ferry to his stag weekend.
Working all weekend too - jaunt to the local car boot on Sunday to pile our wares ;)
Doggles will need a bit of walking once I'm home - try and do that locally.
Need food conflab with the tame chef
Need to boil and pickle said beetroot
Must think of a when we go plan - heading down a week or so before the wedding to OH's house to get on with prep/holiday

Will will the calories to be kind to me, I've never been one to do anything but eat what I like but I'm certainly feeling healthier for cutting down a bit on both the grub and the vino colapso over the passed wee while again.

Have a good weekend whatever you're upto. Appreciate your noses popping by the kitchen door.

    :)

Oh and I must try and remember where I put the 'just in case' c-card as I just can't remember.

That's effective self sabotage against spending for you isn't it.

    :D

Made a cuppa scoffed my lunch (recycled bread and tuna sandwiches) in the van before lunch - whoops.

Hope you're all good. Off to see what's on my list then must skoot out with the muttlets for a nice long and unexpected walk.
