    How tasty does your breakfast sound Stripes?! I'm flippin' jealous I can tell you - I've got a banana. :o Might sneak up when you're not looking and raid your cupboards. :D

    To call DD clever is clearly an understatement, she is the smartest of smart cookies for sure. Big massive great :T:T:T:T:T's for her.

    The being glad you've found MSE thing - I can so identify with that, as I suspect can most of us who are reading this. Looking back now to pre-MSE days is quite scary - I actually LIKE knowing how much money we have in our accounts, knowing that what is there is all ours and that it is enough to meet our outgoings, and - mortgage aside, and we're hammering that - we owe nothing to anyone. before MSE I never had that, and didn't know it was something I needed in my life. Now people tell me that "you're good with money, you're organised" and my initial reaction is to say "noooooo! I'm not!" but actually, you know, I AM! It takes work though - and that's what non MSE types don't get, I think. The OTHER massive advantage to MSE is of course some of the truly superb and wondrous friends you make....stripey ones, sometimes! :D

    I was thinking, has anyone heard from Karmacat lately?

    **dashes in** :wave::wave::wave:

    I made it back! Thank heavens Pippi knew where I was, and I really missed the Stripy Gang.

    I confess, I've been out having a play with folks, and tarting up my house and my garden, and zooming on with a research project that I think is definitely going to turn into a book, even if its a book sold online only, its still a book, right? :rotfl:

    Just caught up with the welliefest planning properly now, Pippi, really amazing stuff - I love what you're doing to get the quality you want without burdening yourself with debt, absolutely ideal. And I'm so glad Greying made the point about using up the storecupboard stuff because you don't want to pay for it to be transported to Fife - thats a long way, and a lot of food :kisses3:

    Your 'squinty' path is a lot of fun :T And now I've got round to logging back on to mse, and told my laptop to remember the password, I'll be on here more often, thankfully :)

    Hi Pippi, congrats to your DD!

    On the wedding front (4 years ago this month, wow where did the time go!!!!), I did all my own favours, invites and special gifts. I have quite a few bride gift boxes and groom gift boxes left over. I filled the ladies one with dragees and the gents ones with mints. If you would like them you're more than welcome to them. I put mine on the tables.
    CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

    Aw four years!

    Well done on sorting all your invites that's so awesome - so nice when you do it yourself isn't it - for ours we created an 'event page' on the book of face' :p and everything is virtual - I'm calling it 'green' and 'paperless' when its in fact - its 'lazy' 'press one button' 'tightness'

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Thanks for the offer lovely, that's so kind, but I don't need any boxes as sweet at that is - the favours we're having are also home made tablet (the Scottish sweetie kind, made by a chum as the wedding pressie :D) and I'm just putting them on the tables on the matts and calling it 'rustic' - folks can tuck in quickly, I figure you snooze, you looze!

    Thank you the DD as lovely as she is would make a scary surgeon. She's mega clumsy :eek: but well intentioned :rotfl::rotfl:

    If you can imagine haggis being even more badly behaved htan peedie when you met him, you'd get the idea of my life at the mo!

    Lovely to see you and thanks for the lovely offer!:A

    There you are lovely how perfectly lovely to see you.

    A book is indeed a book so that's very exciting! Do tell all when you can. Loving your blog at the mo btw.:D

    Garden and house tartage is also very exciting - hope its all coming together.

    The wellie fest - well its going to be a fun DAY but its only a day after all in the grand scheme of things whilst I respect the way others celebrate their union, ours will be frugal as we've a house to buy this year, a holiday to have (very important) and we'd rather spend the core money we have on some nice grub lovingly made with special friends/family than burden ourselves with more debt.

    I want a house with a greenhouse and a garden and chickens - my husband to be has assured me if we keep under budget for the wedding, I may have one, if not all of these lovely things, for being superfrugalstripeywife.

    So whilst its in the plan to keep the spends low, I'm finding it quite fun trying to fathom how to do most things for low cost/free.

    You're an angel for being so lovely and popping by on my squinty path - thank you x

    Right now, given the scurvy I may endure to get through this week I may actually mug you for that banana.

    :D

    DD is now officially clever'er than me. She got 4 A's and 1 B in her studies.

    I got the reverse so now she's happily teasing me about that.

    Superb wonderous friends are quite a nice 'freebie' on here aren't they. I often wonder if the freebie board needs a section for MSE chums in the making.

    Its funny I had a similar talk with someone up here who's always just pillar to post with no money. I've never felt in control before - but I am now.

    Thanks to you lovely lot.:A

    My heart swelled when DS came home from uni with 1/3 of the money he had for the year. He cooks for himself and is pretty good it would seem at the old frugaleering.

    That's something great to shout about.

    Aw thanks especially if you're talking about the slates for free - some people see roof tiles - I see rustic decorative functional table ware :)

    xx Hope you're good.

    Hmm been better (dreaded PMS is actually sending me crazy) but always have time to appreciate some foraging. I hope one day I can be as insightful in the recognition of potential uses for things some may call waste! You're an inspiration xxxx

    EDIT: meant to say yes, I do mean the slate :)
