I don't think that will hold up. She is deliberately not claiming money that she could claim - look how much she's lost already by not claiming as soon as you left!

Exactly, her argument was that you needed to demonstrate you'd applied for jobs and as she was moving south couldn't apply for jobs etc etc...

And what was stopping her signing up with an agency and doing temp work in the meantime while applying for jobs down south?

Didn't you suspect that this whole plan to move south half way through your daughter's studies was just an excuse not to look for work or claim benefits?

This is great news, Jack. Do divert your child support to her parents now, won't you. After all they are paying so they should be in receipt.

Ah not sure on that and how it works as I'm paying voluntary spouse maintenance not child support?

I think you and your solicitor need to keep pointing out how much money she has refused to claim and keep a running total.

You know enough about her situation to fill in the details on a benefit checker site.

As she is not claiming JSA, she will not be receiving any NI credit and will therefore not be building up a pension contribution account - has that been pointed out to her, I wonder?

No I had no idea but then she wouldn't worry about that as she expects to get at least half my pension through the settlement!

But that will be your private pension. Once you're divorced, she will only get a State Pension based on her own contributions.

She could also slope off to Dr and find herself dx depressed, if that happens then she can turn up at court with letter and get a real easy ride.
The worst piece of advice I was ever given was "The judge will see right through", that's not to worry the OP but much better to be prepared for every trick, those she thinks of herself, those she will be advised of by others.
