Jack whilst you wouldn't take anything. It surely won't hurt to let her think you will given half the chance? Put the idea out there and let her imagination do the rest x

Have you considered claiming against actuary firm which caused delays etc resulting in a loss for you ? Or doing a letter to your solicitor laying a blame at their door for not ensuring proper service from actuaries?

The reason for the delay they will claim was the didn't actually get the required information from ex Mrs JackRS side. Also in my experience making such a claim may be valid but to actually get a resolution will involve much time effort and cost for little gain.

I am going down the complaint against my solicitor firm. I have written to the firm asking for their procedure. I have been advised it has had little chance of being upheld as the firm support their own. So I will complain through whatever external authority I need to?

    Hi Jack

The first stage of the complaints process is to go to follow the firm's own complaints procedure. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of that, then take it to the Legal Ombudsman - http://www.legalombudsman.org.uk/

It's free, independent and impartial but you must give your solicitor firm a chance to remedy the situation first.

I understand. I would not hope much for any compensation or official condemnation or whatever it is called. Too much effort indeed when one just wants to put the whole experience behind. I was thinking more on the lines if they know you complaining they would be more watchful for not messing you around and may offer some freebie to avoid it escalating.

Jack, you'd be amazed at what the mere suggestion of the Legal Ombudsman do to this particular company. Speak to the Ombudsman and get a reference number. Then write to them detailing that you have spoken to them. Also, some of the senior partners are on Twitter and mentioning them in a Tweet tends to get their backsides in gear.

Keep focusing on your freedom. It WILL be here soon

They have advised me how to make my complaint, I have a reference number and they are going to write to my solicitors firm and advise them that they are assisting me with my complaint.

I need to go through all my correspondence to select the evidence to support my areas of complaint. Generally poor value for money and little added value.

I don't think "little extra added value" will fly but incompetence like basic arithmetic failures and requests for paperwork they already have (and charging you for dealing with their failures) -will.

Who's fault is the delay with the actuaries? That seems to have cost you dearly.

My understanding is that it's due to ex Mrs JackRS side not providing information required in time?

Have not you paid for actuary report already ? Why did you need to pay if no report done ?
