Separated, how much should I provide?

As you know I will have to use a removal firm to put thehouse contents into storage until finances are sorted and I have foundsomewhere to live. The contents will then have to be delivered to my newaddress.
I have had two quotes done which are both very similar atapprox. £1800. Obviously I do not have that amount of money to hand. Are you inagreement that this expenditure needs to come from the house sale proceeds?
Jeez she's got the cheek of the devil and more front than Brighton!
These items belong to her so why you should be paying anything towards the storage, delivery is beyond me.
Tell her to save some of the money you are giving her, don't you still pay maintenance for your child that doesn't even live with her? What is she doing with this money?0 -
She must pay all her own costs for removal, storage, moving to another property. All of them. Sure she can find £1800 out her £204k windfall.
It beggars belief. I wish she could read this thread from the beginning, once you're free from her rage and unbelievable greed.
Is your divorce finalised? Forgive me, I've missed that detail somewhere in the thread.
That's OK it's difficult to pick out some of the detail in the posts. So current situation, Decree Nisi October 2013. FDR court hearing 2nd April 2015. both parties submitted settlement proposal. Actuaries report on pension not yet completed. House sale completes 27 MarchRegards

Thank you ampersand, I remember the Decree Nisi - a long time ago -is there not a time limit between then and the Decree Absolute?
The reason my ex and I have not yet divorced, after more than 17 years separation, is simply that the solicitors' fees are impossible to fund. Is soon-to-be-ex-MrsRS paying her own fees along the way?
Oh I don't know idf there's a time limit when I suggested to my solicitor about applying for absolute I could but she outlined the costs and suggested better to get ex to apply.
She has been paying her fees using credit cards and a number of loans from her parents.Regards

Download the paperwork from the court's web-site. Fill in and both sign. Pay £400 ish court fees.
You do not need the solicitor for this, but may need one for the financial settlement (depends how much you and ex agree on the split of assets).
Thanks RAS it's a good point, probably best to treat them separately and do the absolute directly without solicitorsRegards

Well don't forget it's her only income, I reduced what I was paying from £1150pcm to just the CSA £650pcm from October 2014. She is living in the house mortgage free and I provide her with a car but as she doesn't work (yet....) has no other income.Regards

First of all thank you for not discussing this through thesolicitors, as that just generates costs that add no value.
If you need to pay that sum up front then we need to work outhow to get money from the sale released which I guess we can’t until we agreehow we split the funds. My previous proposal was for you to have 70% ofthe proceeds giving you £204K and leaving me with £87.5K
If that can be agreed then themoney can be deposited into our individual accounts on 27 March.
Regards

If the divorce is simple there is no need for solicitors. My ex paid £60 for our divorce, it was simple, no money or kids to take account for, everything was sorted before hand re money, and the kids were almost adults (well one was, the other was married) I think it took 6 months from giddyup to whoa.
This was in '94, so it's probably a bit more expensive now, but nothing to what a solicitor would charge. So long as everyone is agreeable to everything, it's only a matter of form filling really.0 -
Can I ask, I know it is none of my business, but why would she be getting such a large part of the equity, can you not re-negotiate for half? Please say yes!
It doesn't make sense to me.0
