Separated, how much should I provide?

In the nicest possible way only you can do Jack, suggest an interest free loan from her parents. With that kind of money behind her, it should only be a short time before she finds suitable accommodation- although, on second thoughts, maybe not, going on her past performances in securing suitable employment. You, my dear friend, have been too generous for too long. Sally0

A suitable reply to Mrs (soon to be ex) JackRS?
Dear Ms Jack.
Thank you for your email. With regard to the contents of our house, I suggest that as I have no money after being bled dry by you for the best part of 2 years, a simple solution involving a box of matches and a can of petrol, may prove to be the easiest solution.
Cost: Petrol = Approx £3
Matches = 74p
Cost to each of us: £1.87
I shall look forward to receiving a cheque from you.
Kind Regards

She must pay all her own costs for removal, storage, moving to another property. All of them. Sure she can find £1800 out her £204k windfall.
It beggars belief. I wish she could read this thread from the beginning, once you're free from her rage and unbelievable greed.
Is your divorce finalised? Forgive me, I've missed that detail somewhere in the thread.0 -
As you know I will have to use a removal firm to put thehouse contents into storage until finances are sorted and I have foundsomewhere to live. The contents will then have to be delivered to my newaddress.
I have had two quotes done which are both very similar atapprox. £1800. Obviously I do not have that amount of money to hand. Are you inagreement that this expenditure needs to come from the house sale proceeds?
Dear Mrs Ex,
I agree that you may take these funds from your oversized portion of the house sale proceeds.
Other options include personal loan from many of the fine banking establishments on the high street. I also offer to loan this sum as a 'lender of last resort' at 8% interest repayable in full no later than 6 months after the loan commences.
Kind Regards,
Smiling Jack0 -

I have no interest in whether or not ex sees Jack's Thread, but a number of us DO hope the children read it in years to come.

Dear Ex,
I am in agreement that the costs of removals and storage should come from your share of the house sale proceeds.

The reason my ex and I have not yet divorced, after more than 17 years separation, is simply that the solicitors' fees are impossible to fund. Is soon-to-be-ex-MrsRS paying her own fees along the way?0 -
Thank you ampersand, I remember the Decree Nisi - a long time ago -is there not a time limit between then and the Decree Absolute?
The reason my ex and I have not yet divorced, after more than 17 years separation, is simply that the solicitors' fees are impossible to fund. Is soon-to-be-ex-MrsRS paying her own fees along the way?
Download the paperwork from the court's web-site. Fill in and both sign. Pay £400 ish court fees.
You do not need the solicitor for this, but may need one for the financial settlement (depends how much you and ex agree on the split of assets). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Beware your wife raiding the joint account - nothing you can do to stop her (my ex-husband emptied it!!). You will need to pay 20% of your income whilst the children are in FTE, but university doesn't count. Urgently seek some legal advice. In later years you may feel you were too generous!
Thank you for your advice and fortunately the joint account was closed June 2013. The CSA calculation is slightly different now and it's actually based on gross income but I believe it has a maximum applied. So for me the one child I have that qualifies calculates at £650pcm. I have had some legal advice for some time now, not that it's proving value for money. I will not have to wait for the later years to know I am being fair and reasonable, or as you say too generous, despite my ex and my children's views.Regards
