As you know I will have to use a removal firm to put thehouse contents into storage until finances are sorted and I have foundsomewhere to live. The contents will then have to be delivered to my newaddress.
I have had two quotes done which are both very similar atapprox. £1800. Obviously I do not have that amount of money to hand. Are you inagreement that this expenditure needs to come from the house sale proceeds?

Hi Jack
It sounds as though ex-Mrs Jack is taking the whole contents of the house? Have you said you don't want anything from the house or has the ex assumed that she takes everything?
If its the latter, you could respond that she can the cost out of her share of the house proceeds, if the former then you may want to make a voluntary contribution (or not!) but the lion's share should be covered by the ex.
How do you feel about her email Jack?

How do I feel? Well Ithink she’s been cheeky!
To clarify the facts the current proposal not yet agreed isthat once the estate agent and solicitor costs come off the sale she will get£204K, I get £87.5K. I have also agreedthat she can have all the contents. Somy response is simple, she can pay for it out of her share of the sale. With my share by the time I’ve paid my debtsand the forthcoming charges for divorce case I will be left with £57K for adeposit, not much to show for over 25 years working in a well paid job. The price of freedom…..

'. The price of freedom…..'
...but it IS freedom for you Jack - and that's what matters.
That is at the heart of this whole Thread.

Oh Jack I just can't believe she has the cheek to ask you to pay for anything.
If I was you I would be telling her that she can use her savings from all the money you have been giving her over the last 2 years.
I hope you are managing to keep your cool cos I know my blood pressure is rising with her anticks.0 -
Wow, just when you think she couldn't have any more cheek!
Hang in there, Jack.0 -
I thought you might feel like that Jack. It was my response to reading it too but thought I'd gauge your feelings before responding as I've had my wrists slapped before by some on this thread!
Tbh I think she's got a brass neck to even suggest it! If she hasn't got the money she can always go to the bank of mum & dad!0 -
Cheeky doesn't even begin to cover it...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Beware your wife raiding the joint account - nothing you can do to stop her (my ex-husband emptied it!!). You will need to pay 20% of your income whilst the children are in FTE, but university doesn't count. Urgently seek some legal advice. In later years you may feel you were too generous!0
