MSE News: Quidco launches 'premium' and free cashback services

  • Since they started two-tier memberships, in Activity tab of my Quidco account there were messages saying payments will be made 60 days after it’s been confirmed (rather than in the next payment run which has always been the case). Those messages were removed today. Does anyone with basic membership still see this message in Activity section (hover your mouse over 'Info about payment')?

In that case, like a few others already predicted, payments to free basic members may be delayed further 60 days, whilst paying premium members will receive payments in the same speed as before.

My last 4 purchases I have needed to raise a claim in order to get my cashback none of them tracked. After a prolonged exchange with quidco they have waived the new T+C's for me so I can access my account.

My anniversary date is 21/12 so 8 months before I can downgrade to free. I also can't use my account or I will be deemed to have accepted their new T+C's

Now using TCB who seem to pay higher cashback so we will see how they track and pay.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.

    As the above post ^

I didn't begrudge paying Quidco their £5 fee until I checked for some cashback tonight and found most (90%) of recent transations had not tracked.

This is despite me being an experienced user and knowing about cookie behaviour etc and I would have used different computers over this period.

Quidco IMO were the first to offer a (fairly) transparent cashback co-operative but if this is now typical performance, I am not surprised they are losing ground to competitors.

In addition, I could not raise tickets for about half as they were outside their 7 week window :(

As a new customer can I sign up for a free account rather than a premium?

I am very happy with TCB but the Amazon cashback is a big draw for me- not enough of a draw to pay for the account though.

    I don't see why not.

On the Quidco sign up page it says "
    Two types of Quidco membership

    Join now, choose later"

Although when I signed up I had to untick the premium account box and tick the basic account one.

However, on confirming registration I noticed that I was shown as being a premium member.

I have emailed them about this and I am waiting for a response.

Is this what you get for your extra £5

    Wow a year to pay!

15 May 12 CCL Computers Ltd
    Tracked 15 May 12 Estimated Payment 02 May 13

I'm also still cross over the DGM collapse in 2010.

I was waiting for £80 from Orange, TCB PAID OUT to their customers.
As a customer of Quidco I RECEIVED NOTHING.
That was the begining of the End for Quidco.

How can they possibly even think they could continue to charge a fee for their service after the way they handled customers back in 2010. People have long memories, Quidco where's my £80?

The handling of the DGM issue by Quidco was unbelievably poor. By their own admissions they messed up and maybe as a consequence delayed the inevitable demise of DGM becoming public knowledge. More of us therefore likely suffered losses which might of been avoided.

Initially they honoured their members losses by paying out before they were paid themselves by DGM, but then they pulled the plug so some of the members got paid but the rest didn't.

This was the only loss I had in 4 years with Quidco but their whole approach put me off using them again.

Good point. For people new to this - it's worth noting that when an affiliate network went bust a few years ago, topcashback honoured all "lost" cashback out of their own pockets. No members lost out.

Quidco did not do the same, despite having £5 per member to play with. Now, you could well argue that Quidco were perfectly within their rights - however TCB bent over backwards for their members.

Also worth noting that 4 days after TCB responded to my question, Quidco still have not replied or even acknowledged it.

    I've made my mind up.

On the subject of the DGM collapse, I raised a support ticket (now a Premium Quidco-er)and asked if my missing £80 from 2010 is ever likely to be paid by quidco also pointing out that TCB users received payment, this is the reply they gave TODAY...
I'm sorry to tell you that your Orange Home & Mobile Broadband purchase was affected by the unfortunate situation with DGM, who are the affiliate network that processed cashback on behalf of the retailer.

DGM went into administration in July 2010 and are therefore no longer processing cashback. Due to this I am sorry that we cannot guarantee your cashback on this occasion.

Please do be assured that we are working closely with the network and the administrators to try and find a positive outcome for you and all other members affected and as soon as we have any further updates we will let you know straight away.

In the meantime I would like to thank you for your continued patience as we know how frustrating this must be for you.

hmmm draw you own conclusions to the question.....

Is it worth paying £5 a year for Quidco Premium?
