Probably because they are using equipment that can connect to a router using channel 13.0

Yes,that's EVERY device EXCEPT a blackberry z10!! over 300 pass through the building in a week, every week,no-one,and I mean no-one has failed to connect to the router and get wi-fi.Only my Blackberry Z10,why is this? I am desperate for another z10 user to arrive!!!but not many have one,not suprised given all the problems with it.Kawasaki z750 Rider!0 -
Unless you know what devices they're using you can't be certain.
Fact is you can connect to wifi at home, but not at work. This points to your works router. Incidentally it is set to channel 13, which your phone can't see.
I don't see that there is a problem with the phone.
At home I can set my router to channel 13. My personal laptop can connect but my work laptop can't. That doesn't mean my work laptop is faulty, it means the wifi card doesn't recognise routers on channel 13. same as your phone.
Change the channel on your router at home to 13, see what happens on your phone. I would bet that it won't be able to connect.0 -

Liam doesn't allow logic to get in the way of a good old rant.
If his works router was configured to use a channel between 1 and 11, he would still be blissfully ignorant rather than showing his total ignorance on here! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
So,all other devices can 'see' channel 13,so,no problem with the phone?Odd,it can't even see channel 1,the phone is set to look at the wrong channels, but I can't change this, someone technical from Blackberry needs to tell me how.

OK... here goes:
"All"... or just the ones your colleagues use? Like I said, you don't know what devices they are using.
Your work router isn't sending out a signal on channel 1, so I'm not sure what channel 1 has to do with it?
You can't change the channel on your phone, it has to be done on the router.
If your TV can't get channel 2, you need to contact an aerial company.0 -

If you looked at the screenshot I put up,you will see that there are 2 other connections there, both use channel 1,my lovely z10 does NOT 'see' them either,so it does not see channels 1 and 11,I wonder what others it can't 'see'.
It does not matter what devices others have, they ALL connect,my z10 does not.I have asked,no-one is having any issues connecting, only my Z10.
If my tv does not get a particular channel, its not the BBC at fault, its the TV!!!! not the aerial!I can't ask the BBC to switch their transmitter to another channel just for me!!! Are you a wind up?Kawasaki z750 Rider!0 -
There can be lots of reasons why a device will not see or connect to a router / network, sitting here in my kitchen my laptop sees 8 networks but my phone only sees between 1 and 4, is my phone at fault ? If you google you will find reports that the Z10 does not like channel 13, it is as simple as that. Speak to your IT bods and tell them this. I can see no reason why they cannot change the channel apart from it being one that no one else uses and so reduces the risk of interference. It will take them less than 5 minutes to change it and I doubt anyone will even notice (apart from you of course). The problem is that your phone is not faulty it is just incompatible with one particular function and unless you specifically asked the question then you have little SOGA redress. There is a reason why the majority do not set ch13 on their routers, you have just found that reason.0

Eh? What about full development lifecycle? What kind of business would randomly flick channels and if it doesn't work have a jolly good laugh about it while all services crash round about them causing major down time and a potential P1 incident??0 -
