You can be a Miss, Mrs or Ms - whatever you want.
It's not illegal to call yourself Miss after you are married.
I don't understand why women have to declare their marital status through a title when men don't.
Mr = adult male. Ms = adult female.0 -
I knew an Emma Smith who got married to Keith Royd. She kept her maiden name.0

People keep saying to me "why do you want to get married so bad if you aren't changing your name?"...but it's not all about that is it?
HBS x
You're right, that's not what it's all about
It's a weird one when you think of it, if I used Mrs but kept my maiden name, I'd be called the same as my Mam!0 -

This exactly. I've 'kept' my name and never use DH's for anything. If pressed I'll use Miss or Ms but never Mrs.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I'm already a Ms so I'd still be a Ms. But then I could stick Mrs infront of my name now and it wouldn't mean a thing (in france it just means Adult female as opposed to young female).
I wouldn't mind checking into a hotel as Mr and Mrs x but else I'm still me and would keep my name. Has been mine for 40 years already!
I'd be having words with the registrar if they said "that's the last sign you'll be signing your name like that" - "why, are you going to nick my pen?"0 -

I don't think she meant anything by it, I guess they just assume everyone is going to take their husbands name.0 -

And that really pees me off.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
To be honest I don't understand why people get so hung up over a name, I changed mine when I got married and you know I'm still the same person.
Can I also ask why people care about people knowing they are a "Mrs" I don't want to upset anyone as its personal choice but I honestly don't understand why it matters?? Am I missing something?0 -
