I am making a point that there is a clear distinction between a woman who invites you to admire them as part of their job, and a woman who just happens to be attractive passing by you in the everyday

Agreed. The woman in the street is being admired for the way she looks and carries herself. She will most likely be attractive, confidant, happy and relaxed. The appreciative glance of a passer by does her no harm or interferes in her day whatsoever. It also does nothing to degrade her.

The woman in a strip club or the like is in a totally different scenario. As has been raised in this thread, by another person who through their work comes into contact with strippers, many are abused, exploited and vulnerable. There is nothing pleasant about having a group of men staring at your naked body, whilst you perform in a sexual manner in front of them. To me that would be a nasty and intimidating experience.

The argument that you can go outside and find other people attractive, does not show a misunderstanding of why adult entertainment exists. It puts forward a perspective that there are better ways to appreciate members of the opposite sex than to go and view a woman who is selling a visual view of her body for the sexual gratification of men.

We're expecting a baby now (due date in June) and this.... seems odd. May I say that your husband acts like an absolute wan*er?

It puts forward a perspective that there are better ways to appreciate members of the opposite sex than to go and view a woman who is selling a visual view of her body for the sexual gratification of men.

But as I say, I've interacted with many strippers myself through work and I can attest that they too are often confident and neither exploited nor do they feel degraded.

Many of them see it as a smart business move for them to make money from their looks before moving on to a better, more long-term career. One lady I worked with worked as a stripper, glamour model and webcam worker and used the money she raised over the few years to pay for her degree, buy her house outright, buy her car outright and setup a business using her newly acquired degree. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but irrespective of the work required, aren't there many women in their early 20s who would love to be in that position?

Another one I worked with had to give up her job as a qualified nurse when her... well, we'll just say she used words I cannot repeat here... walked out on her the very day she gave birth to their child. She couldn't afford the child care on her own, so she does a couple of nights a week stripping and a few magazine shoots a month and makes more than she did nursing for much less work. Although she is no longer my client so I have no contact with her now and do not know whether her plans have changed, she fully intended to return to nursing one day but she didn't feel at all exploited by what she does presently.

And that's just two of many women I've worked with who ply their trade out of significantly more.

Now, I'll appreciate, I don't come across at all well here but I'm not a wholly heartless individual, and I'll admit I've encountered three women who at the risk of my own job I told them to quit because the job they were doing wasn't doing them any good but not because of what went on at the job, what was going on in their own lives. Sometimes people need to take time out and reflect; in my experience those who don't can rush into something they shouldn't be doing instead of doing what they should be doing and dealing with their issues.

But by the same token, I've been told by various people that I should leave my job because it does me no good and I'll agree with them - still going to do it though because I can't do anything else.

Emotional issues are not the sole domain of the sex trade and while I won't argue that there are women who work in the business who should get out, I also will say that there are people who work in all sorts of businesses for all the wrong reasons who should get out - but because they don't take their clothes off, nobody seems to give a damn until they inevitably break down.
She will most likely be attractive, confidant, happy and relaxed

Based on what I've seen from friends, co-workers and even a neighbour, when it comes to women in the street, it'll be the first one... the rest won't matter one bit because they won't even have time to take that in. They're looking at looks and nothing more.
It puts forward a perspective that there are better ways to appreciate members of the opposite sex than to go and view a woman who is selling a visual view of her body for the sexual gratification of men.

And I still believe it isn't a better way, nor does it show understanding of why adult entertainment exists.

Also, I don't find strip clubs to be particularly gratifying... titillating perhaps, but not gratifying. It's almost like a form of domination exerted by the girls on the customers. In fact, there's a surprisingly large market for financial domination and this actually comes across as a tame version of it, or rather, it fits certain criteria of it.

I have left a reply on there to the effect that if she wants him I'll happily FedEx him to her.

Probably without airholes in the box, mind...

Haven't read all the posts, but sounds like he belongs in a zoo ...

I think women who choose to walk around with barely anything on have very low self esteem and dont value themselves at all.

It's all in context, though. Women who, say, walk around with barely anything on if they are at the beach, or in a swimming pool, are different from wandering around a town centre at night, I think.

I agree with you. Of course women will have far less on when on a beach or by a pool, than whilst walking round doing the shopping. Even then I dont think it is pleasant when their boobs and backside are on view covered very partially by skimpy beachwear. I like to choose who sees my body to that degree and not to have it on display for every tom, d!ck and harry to oggle at.

I have been on plenty of beaches in my time and been exposed to parts of peoples bodies that I really have no interest in seeing. Some truly shocking sights at times!

To me that would be a nasty and intimidating experience.

To be fair, I wouldn't get anything out of it either. However, for some men and women, it's the opposite. Some people love the attention.

So this is then relative. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like this.

I agree that for people to be coerced into this kind of work is completely unacceptable, but for those who actively seek it as a career choice, or even just a hobby, I think people should respect their decision as free-thinking adults.

    .

But there are also those connected with the industry who really do not make enough to buy homes outright, who do it as a second job, or just dabble for a pittance. I have no idea what the proportion of this is though. I think the idea that it is so lucrative is a temptation for many who never achieve the money.

This is all so personal. I am totally comfortable with nudity (and sexuality) and can see the two as pretty much separate. If I see something on a . Beach I don't want to I don't look....
