  • That is terrible about your tenant, stress you can do without! Our tenant has underpaid their rent for two months running so we are fed up too! Renting houses can be a right PITA!!

I need to start thinking about Christmas too, have my head in the sand!

  • Oh no at the tenants Penny (have had my fair share of types like this too!) I finally had enough and got an agent and specified NO DSS (I hate to judge as some of my family are on benefits) BUT they seem to be the worst where I have my house, NO PETS (not sure if you read my diary when rabbits, dogs cats etc were allowed free run of the house and totally ruined all my carpets etc) and NO SMOKERS (again had problems with smells, walls & ceilings ruined). I had to wait longer for a tenant BUT I got one in the end and they have paid rent, they haven't caused nuisances of themselves with neighbours, and I hope they've kept the house in good order...they've reported jobs that needed doing rather than letting them get so bad it is a nightmare to fix so i'm taking it as a good sign the house is not too bad! I would recommend you put some limitations in place for the agents so you can avoid bad tenants again. it's only taken me half a dozen times of being stung to do this :rotfl: I'm a slow learner :p xx

  • Hi PWPS (and everyone!)

Just popped in to catch up. Lots going on and thank you so much for the cookie recipe. I will be using that one as soon as I can find a bit of space in my fridge!

Just wanted to say, I am a tenant. I know my landlord has had bad tenants who either trashed the place, or didn't pay in the past, but I have rented twice now and frankly, I know it is someone elses bricks and mortar but it is my home. I have redecorated a few rooms, with landlord permission. I touch up walls when they get marked and dirty, as is very necessary with no outdoor space and wet/muddy pram wheels stored against walls  and I let him know of big jobs that need doing, i.e the thermostat went on the shower. In return, my landlord fixes the problems quickly and is helpful and courteous. I have had an old pram from him for free as he was getting rid of it, and I got him a new boiler fitted just as his old one almost died. Shame the building is a right old state and there is no garden or it would be perfect!

Hope your next tenant treats their home with the respect it deserves!

  • Thanks for all your lovely replies, DH has spoken to agent and left it with them, trying not to think too much about it.

Seemed to be meeting myself coming back this week, I don't seem to have enough hours in the day to get everything done and my hours at work have changed slightly so getting used to that as well. Work is totally mental and If I actually stop to think about how much I have to do I panic, so I'm not thinking about it and just taking each day one day at a time, and making sure I do everything in order of importance, I feel like a bl**dy hamster on a wheel.

Decided to go shopping yesterday afterwork as DH was around to pick up from school, so went to aldi and Tesco, spent £26 in aldi and £32 in Tesco had a voucher for £4 off to use in Mr T and only bought stuff we use that was on offer, so made some good savings, I'm going to try and go shopping on a Wednesday as by doing so I've managed to free up some time at the weekend and not trailing round supermarkets at there busiest.

Last night we went to local bonfire, cost £10 to get in but the kids enjoyed it so thats the main thing.

Ebay sales have gone well this, I made around £40 and DD made about £35, I have spent the money made on xmas presents for the kids and DD has spent hers on new boots, so we are all happy.

I'm sure I had loads more to update, but to be honest I feel like a looney at the minute and have brain frazzle.

Hope evryone is ok and take care.x.
  • Good afternoon.

Been a busy day today, got caught up with a few jobs, cleaned out the animals, went to Mr S and spent £40 , did need to buy DH razor blades which are just an obscene amount of money, DD needed cleanser, bless her she is starting to get teenage skin, other stuff was just general household and food bits.

Redeemed £15 from a survey site.

Been busy in the kitchen, used up odds and ends in the fridge and made soup, got some reduced chicken thighs in Mr s, they are currently cooking in the oven with garlic and herbs, once cooked and cold i will take off the bone and use the meat for sandwiches, braising steak also cooking in the oven for tea tonight.

Have been putting the CH on for half an hour in the morning and evening to take the chill off the bedrooms, wood burner is lit downstairs and is keeping us toasty and warm.

Need to pay some bills this weekend and see whats left, may get a few christmas presents for the kids.

    Hope everyones ok.x.

  • Afternoon all,

Well it has been a hugely expensive day, but in a way I am relieved as I have bought DD main xmas present, we have bought her a laptop, something she really needs for school. To be honest I've been quite surprised just how much work is actually done using computers. We have made it very clear that she will only be getting a few other bits to go with it so won't have a huge amount of stuff to open and that her brother will probably seem to have more but they will both of had the same spent on them, but that is what happens when they want expensive gifts.

Bought 2 more xmas presents in sports direct, onesies for the kids, I got DD a zebra one, she loves the meerkat advert with baby oleg and always laughs at the stripey pyjama horse part, so I have got her a stripey pyjama horse onesie :rotfl:. I have decided cousins are getting sweets and a cheque, we have decided on In laws present and just need to go and buy it, to be honest I just want to get everything bought so that I can go back to making over payments on the Tesc0 card:rotfl:, I'm really annoyed that xmas is getting in the way:mad:.

Also bought DS new winter walking boots and trainers, so that was another £45.

Nipped into Mr ald1, only spent £5.06, needed milk( must be getting cold as DS is drinking lots of hot choccie), sugar and veggies.

Need to get a grip on the supermarket spends, seem to be spending loads at the minute.
  • Happymac, hello and thankyou.

You must be bored to tears reading my diary, I do tend to waffle on.

Yes I do seem to have many balls up in the air at once, every now and then I do have a wobble though and drop them, I do soon get over it though and pick them back up and start all over again :rotfl:.
  • Sound like you're very organised on the Christmas front pwps.:).

The older the kids get it seems the more expensive the presents get. Whatever happened to them been happy just playing with the paper eh!:rotfl:

    Have a good week.

    Xx
