Afternoon Everyone.
Well im having a great day, spent all morning ( when i should have been ironing) talking to ds2 who is in Malta with in laws on MSN, Had lots of fun pulling faces on the web cam with him!! Hes having a great time and he looks very tanned (im going to look even whiter when he gets back!)
Then dh phoned to say lady from freecycle has rang and he can pick up chest freezer after work, im so pleased been after a small one for ages and finally got one.
Just finished making pizzas for tea, and am about to rush off for school run.
Hope you are all having a good day too.

DH was wrong about the weather so instead of a quiche and salad I am going to make either spag bol or egg fried rice for tea.
One DD still has a cold but the others seem all right now.
The tale of putting a chook out of its misery reminded me of when I was first going out with DH.
He was living in Manchester and I was visiting ( new shoes killing my feet).
We saw an injured pigeon in the road and DH said it was too badly hurt to recover and as he used to keep birds should he put it out of its misery?
Not really thinking - I agreed! He took the bird and came back a couple of minutes later saying he had wrung its neck.
I looked a bit stunned and he looked a bit worried at my reaction and repeated that it needed to be put out of its misery!
He then asked me was I limping and had I hurt my foot?
With vivid thoughts of the pigeon I hastily denied any sort of limp or problem!
Didn't dare say my shoes were killing me.
Scary to think we will have been married for 25 years at the end of this month.

Hello everyone,
Just got back from visiting the two farm museums which were pretty good. Both were croft type houses that people actually lived in showing their way o life. Puts us all to shame. Now that was OS.I broke out in a sweat just looking at how much work they needed to do to get through a normal day. The bed wasn't comfy either. It did have a sign not to sit on it, but I didn't see it until it was too late.
On thinking over it, I'm sure none of my family/friends will think their presents tacky. They won't tell me to my face anyway. My sister will love the puffin apron I bought her yesterday.
Had to laugh at the ones in Rome. I did pick up a couple, but they weren't that bad.
How apt to have hens named after you CM & Shez. I suppose the rooster will be called MATH.
Well off for a bit of a walk. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good afternoon all!
Well I had my bus ride into town and then back again with DGD – took twice as long coming back because it went down some side roads but it made a change being able to nose at other peoples’ gardens! Don’t see a lot when you’re driving yourself what with having to keep your eye on the road! DGD loved it and was ever so good; she’s a real chatterbox and, by the time we got off, she had been adopted by several giggling old ladies who would otherwise have been flirting with the driver – or so he told me!
Had time to wander around the shops before I went to pre-school so picked up Chicken Soup for the Soul (because I’ve heard a lot of you mention it) and, also, Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul but I don’t think I’ve heard that one mentioned here. They were .40p each but that particular shop sells books at BOGOF so – 20p each! Can’t be bad. Need to race through my current Anne Tyler, read both the Chicken Soups then pass them on to my mum, then get back to Anne Tyler! I live in fear that I won’t live long enough to read all the hundreds of books I’ve got – I wonder if they’ll let me take them with me?!
My mum, bless her, doesn’t spend a lot on herself but, for an almost 77 year old, she’s a trendy little thing; anyway, she wanted some of the Boots stuff that is supposed to work wonders on the skin (she wants to look her best for my DS1’s wedding next month but doesn’t want to go under the knife! I don’t know why she worries – she’s still a lovely looking lady. Anyway, she was determined to get some but her local Boots kept running out. The girl behind the counter said she could probably get it online. She told the girl she doesn’t have a computer but she does have a daughter who has one so she asked me to order it. I ordered it on Saturday and it was delivered yesterday – apparently, in a huge box which we think may have been to disguise the contents because there is such a long waiting list for it Anyway, it was meant to be delivered on Tuesday but she had just popped out for ten minutes so she missed it; she rang me and I was able to track the parcel and re-arrange delivery for the following day. My mum just can’t understand how I could do that with just the reference number she gave me because I live in Hampshire and she lives in Wiltshire! She was on the phone and I said ‘I’ve got the details of the parcel on the screen so I’ll re-arrange delivery’. ‘How can you do that? How do they know it’s my parcel? Are you sure they know what they’re doing?’ and so on. I’m going to have to give her a go on this thread so she can see how communication on the net works! When I tell her about OS on MSE she thinks I’ve joined a WI club! But, then, in a way, I have! She would love it on here because she’s full of OS tips.
Well, the sun has been shining for the last couple of hours so I have nervously put some washing on the line. I should be listing some stuff on eBay but I may do that tomorrow – I’ll see how I feel. I have a bit more paperwork to do but that feels really organised for a change. DH’s car has been fixed now (£226.07!!) so hopefully I’ll have my car back tomorrow for my farm shop and butcher shop.YELLOWMONKEY – sometimes I have found I may spend a little more getting my fruit, veg and meat this way but the quality is so much better and everything seems to last so much longer than supermarket produce. One drawback is the temptation to buy more because they seem to have so much more choice and it all looks lovely because it’s not pre-packed. Touch wood, I have never had to throw anything out because it’s so fresh it doesn’t go off within a couple of days!
SHEZ – new avatar is lovely but I do prefer him with less clothes on and that, you know, that smouldering hungry-for-passion look!
SMOKY- I do hope your OH is a lot better now; must be such a worry for you.
TIRED MUM – my ‘gift’ from Spain from my lovely neighbour was a pig-ugly pink and white china donkey with a sinister grin and side panniers bearing gross plastic flowers. It was about two foot tall and was picked to go next to a beautiful tasteful vase so I just had to keep it on display! That meant I also had to explain it to visitors when they said ‘!!!!!! is that?!’
MEANMARIE – have a great trip to Cork
SHEZ – hope your DH is getting better.
I have a loaf of bread in the BM and Apple Brown Betty (with sherry) in the oven for pudding to take to DS2 and his GF where we’re having dinner tonight. Will take some double cream to go with it. I think I’ll go and have a sit down now and catch up on some knitting – my nephew’s wife is having her second baby this week; in fact they may be starting her off today, and they think it’s a girl so I want to knit something for her.
Will call in again later and see how you are all getting on. Bye for now.

Hiya again,
HAHA Ds2 back from his trip, and because he was the only one with waterproof trousers he was the only child that got off the bus dry!!!! But teacher came up to me and said he didnt have any sanwiches??? I said he did have this morning, she said dont worry he wasnt the only one to forget them.
Now i find this highly amusing that the teachers didnt think along my wave lenght and ask the kids involved if they had ate them.
Because when i ask ds2 guess what, him (the little sod) and the other 2 kids involved had ate them on the bus on way there, then told teacher they forgot them and got given somemore!!!
Not happy with him, but have to admit made me smile, but we wont tell him that!!
Ds1 said his maths SAT went really well, im so pleased its all over tommorow one more maths test and its finished.
Kids dont you just love em!!!
Right off for a look around the threads

yeah OH got the job!!!!
he starts on 18th june, i'm really pleased for him, it's a complete change of career for him. he's a checkout manager for tesco atm and the new job is in the business account dept for natwest, hopefully he will be happier as the tesco job is really getting him down and the've messed him around loads in the last 2 years.
and whilst he was there i 'had' to go shopping so i bought some new trousers and a top in primark. it was empty too which was a nice change.0 -
HEATHER - congratulations to OH on getting the job. You must both be really pleased!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
