I just feel like anything they can do will belittle the assault. At the end of the day if it happened to me i would be pursuing with the Police too.

Do you trust the CEO to change anything? Often they will just tell you what you want to hear.

I will give him a chance and see what he comes back with.

The complaint to the CEO probably won't give the OP much of a result. I used to deal with staff complaints when I worked for BT. Even if the security guard is disciplined in any way, they won't be able to tell the OP. The usual reply will be something like, "The matter has been dealt with", which, of course, covers everything from an informal verbal warning to summary dismissal.

If the OP really wants to take it further and the police have "got bigger fish to fry", the only available option would be a private prosecution.

I was quite willing to prove him wrong. It was quite intimidating 3 versus 1!

    I'm sure it was.

I'm a Security Guard and i've had to face down maybe a gang of shoplifters. Some store managers expect Security to take on gangs!

Saying that, they dealt with you badly and as most people do make mistakes at times.

Personally I wouldn't stand for that, in my eyes you either do your job or I start hassling you by moving up the chain of command and/or getting my MP involved.

People make to many excuses in this country. We may be overstretched but then its often a case of whoever makes the biggest nuisance of themselves gets the result.

Well I have emailed the CEO already.

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!
  • I would have emptied my pockets quite cheerfully, knowing that there was nothing there.

However, when it was shown that I had nothing of theirs, I would have expected a darn good apology from the Security Guard and perhaps the offer of a small gift token or something, to compensate me for my loss of time and embarassment.

But then I am just Ms Nice and like freebies.

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!!! This thread reminds me of the sort of people that go on Jeremy Kyle!

It is not a mountain out of a molehill!

OP was grabbed from behind and spun round, leaving a mark on his arm. That is totally over the top and unacceptable. It would have been sufficient for the security staff to approach him and ask him politely to accompany them. Apart from anything else, they had no way of knowing if their actions could have caused serious harm - I am disabled with a spinal injury and a balance problem due to neurological complications, on the days when I am well enough to go out, you might not notice from a distance, but if someone ran up to me and spun me round in the manner described, it is more likely that not that I would fall, and possible that I could sustain a serious injury.

Store staff should not be physically accosting customers.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

I accept that it is not an easy job... it is, however, a much more difficult job if not done properly.

I don't think that the manager/pharmacist had enough control over the situation to say/do anything meaningful.
