cant say ive ever done a lot of knicker checking exactly....
but i do a fine line in 'after wipe' checking (i did warn you we share too much! lol)0 -
I tried ovulation predictor kits cos I noticed that my fertile time seemed to be later in my cycle than normal, eg about day 18/19 of a 28 day cycle. I noticed this was when my CM changed and thought it must be too late to be ovulating but when I did a strip it came up pos straight away. I've seen on the internet it can be harder to conceive if you ovulate later due to a shorter luteal phase, but I got preggers first month of trying and we had only done it once around my fertile time (day 20). I think they're good because you might be ovulating later or earlier than text book and could miss the best time (unless you do it every night of course !!)0

Hastily puts down ham sandwich...thanks Curious George! I don't think I should eat my lunch whilst reading this thread he he!
Thanks for that minskerella, think the strips will put my mind at rest, and my husband at rest! The poor thing is starting to feel a little bit used, but if I can pin point my most fertile time we can go for quality more than quantity!
Every night? Me thinks not!:A I can fly :A0 -
piscesprincess: i just came back from cuba 10 days ago, was away 24-26 weeks and had a great time.
i phoned the airline beforehand and told them i was 6 months pregnant so they put me down for a seat with more leg room and when i got to check in i told the check in assistant and asked to be put on an aisle near a toilet so i wasnt disturbing anyone with my frequent loo trips!! i also had my maternity notes in my hand luggage just in case. i wore the (very attractive) dvt socks but even still my legs were like sausages by the end of it, dont think there is much you can do about that. i was worried about how i was going to be in the heat but we stayed on the coast most of the time and the breeze made it seem less opressive. when we did venture away from the beach i made sure i had a big hat and a paper fan in my bag, they were both very useful, as was the magicool type spray. i had a couple of very minor upset tummys with the food and had taken melissa homeopathic drops with me (picked them up from boots and checked with the pharmacist that they were ok for me to take) - i dont know if they helped that much but knowing i have taken something always makes me feel better.
hope some of that helps. have a fantastic time!!The names have been changed to protect the innocent!0 -
oh Dormouse how scary - glad it seems to have calmed down again though
I'm having a busy baby week - we did our first NCT class on Monday and then our first NHS one last night (both on birth) really glad we're doing the NCT ones as they're much more informative about the how and why as well as the basics but it was really good to see the delivery suites and to be able to chat informally with the midwife at the NHS session. We have 2 more classes this week both on feeding so that'll be interesting to to see the differences.
We also had our 34 week midwife appointment yesterday and baby is doing just fine. Found out that one of the benefits of going for a home birth is that we get an extra scan at 38 weeks to check that the head is engagedAll the midwives have been really positive about home births (unlike the GP  ) and I'm actually feeling REALLY positive about the whole giving birth thing - I suspect that's the hypnobirthing as when I listened to the CD again today that's one of the things it's teaching me. It's been really noticeable in the antenatal classes how stressed and fearful all the other mums are where as I feel almost manically happy about the prospect of giving birth (just wait till the contractions start though :rotfl: )
We've decided to get a birthing pool for home as water seems to tick so many of the boxes. I'd resisted so far as I'm trying not to spend loads of money but as so far all we've bought for baby is about 50 quids worth of stuff from Mothercare and about £20 of nappy accessories from ebay (everything else has been given to us) I don't feel too guilty about forking out for what will become the biggest paddling pool on the street0 -

Thanks igcognito, that really helps.
That's great that you got extra leg room, will bear that in mind when I request our seats.

What Justie said! The initial post was inflammatory and full of irrelevant twaddle about male nurses being able to hit veins (I imagine he gives the femal nurses such a headache they stab him repeatedly for good measure
) - just ignore it and he'll go away.
