Congrats to all the newbies to the thread and to those that have given birth.
I haven't been keeping up to date recently ain't really been on much.
Hope everyone is well and I will hopefully be able to keep up to date now that I have caught up again.

you've pretty much answered yourelf hun, wear whats comfortable!!! it worked for me. The sports bra's that you can get are really quite comfy too. Cheapest i foud were primark about 4 quid. good luck x

Congrats Jo_b, Hope you and the family are all well!!

Right..I'm felling less battered and bruised now so better fill you all in on the gory details!

Contractions started in the early hours of the morning (7th) and went on regularly throughout the day. We left it as late as we dared to get to hospital (a good 20 minute drive away) so put our son to bed and got to hospital about 8pm.

After about an hour, the midwifes were just about to set up the gas and air when my waters broke really quickly and I was at the pushing stage! Much to my horror - I was then told that it was too late for any pain relief and had to go through the whole birth without so much as a sniff of gas and air! :eek: (I had gas and air and pethidine last time round.)

The pushing stage was horrendous and he popped out all in one go in the end. (Head and body all came out together - The head usually comes out first and you need another push for the rest of the body.) He practically shot across the bed like a champagne cork!! :eek: I think that's why I tore quite badly and ended up being stitched up for nearly two hours! The worst moment was probably when I asked the midwife if she had nearly finished (as I had bad cramp in my legs and I was shivering still covered in all the cack from the labour!) and she announced that the tear was deeper than she thought and would have to take the stitches out and start again!! :eek: I thought she was knitting a baby blanket for me - she was down there so long! :rotfl:

Anyway - baby Ben has been no trouble since the birth. We went home the next morning and my eldest son is absolutely besotted with his baby brother. Ben is a really calm and placid baby. Breastfeeding is a lot easier second time around and all the baby skills seem to come so much easier too. He's only been waking up once a night which is bearable, even though I'm still exhausted all day long!

Congrats to Jenpoptab - I noticed that you had your baby boy the day after me.

Good luck to those of you nearing the top of the list. Hope you have a tear-free delivery!

Good to hear from you, Jo - and OUCH! :eek: Two hours of stitching sounds very very painful! :eek: :eek: And no pain relief - you deserve a medal!!! :T

Glad to hear looking after a baby is easier second time round - I was starting to doubt myself and wonder whether I remember anything. And I, too, want a baby who only wakes up once a night, please!

I'm starting to feel properly heavily pregnant now - like a gravid cat, DH fondly calls me. :rotfl: The baby is right underneath my boobs so I'm having to sit up really straight all the time. I am quite looking forward to August. :rolleyes:

Taking a deep breath and adding myself to the list. I did join last year but then sadly lost the baby. I have waited until 12 weeks this time so hopefully i will be staying with you (though it is still hard to believe). I had a scan at 9 weeks and all was fine but disappointingly they said that would be my dating scan so I don't get a 12 week scan (Sob!)

Am about over the morning sickness now but have horrible back and stomach pains from my second UTI this pregnancy, grr! thinking I must be having a girl as I was troubled with all sorts of mysterious pains and fatigues with DD and felt great with DS. Oh, and will be having a gap of 9 years since my last baby, feels like the first time and would be intersted in experiences from anyone else with big gaps in children's ages.

Oh, and jo_b - I read in the paper that 7/7/07 is a lucky birthdate as 7 is supposedly a lucky number. What with that and weighing 7ish pounds and being 7 days late I think your little one is going to be VERY lucky!
