skintchick - I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Don't lose hope.
SB - hope you had a good birthday - a tin of roses in bed sounds like heaven at the moment!
Krystal - congratulations on your marriage - good on you for standing your ground and having a rest whilst you were away.
feelinggood - congratulations - there is a list somewhere that you can add your EDD to.
slscarborough - I bought a swing coat from Evans - I am normally a 14/16 and a 16 from Evans swamps me with plenty of room to grow! It's bright red and I love it! When I first put it on DSS said it was the most pregnant of pregnant coats ever!!!
Sarah - 1 hour 40 minutes! I want a labour like that (can put up with anything if it is over that quickly!)
Hope everyone is well!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I saw some coats in H&M maternity department, they are really nice and quite reasonably priced.
Skintchick - Am thinking of you and hope it all works out to be ok . :grouphug:0 -

Hi AllFound out on Friday that I'm 12 weeks, still in happy shock!
Looking forward to getting to know you all
Had a private scan on Saturday, got to get to the doctors tomorrow to sort everything out and make sure everythings okay. Can't believe all the stuff I've done in the past 12 weeks, oops.
I'm completely clueless, no idea about pregnancy!
I'm ashamed to admit I always thought you were male:rotfl:

I'm glad I missed the first 12 weeks, I don't think I'd have dared get out of bed if I'd have known.
Got first Doctors appointment this afternoon. What do they do? Blood tests or something? I'm looking forward to being told off for being far too fat!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Lol FG, I've got one of those tellings off coming next week too!!
Is your appointment with the Dr or midwife? If it's the Dr they could very well just refer you to the midwife... At the first 'booking in' appointment with the midwife they tend to fill in your green book and take previous medical/family history and book you in for a scan. Don't think blood gets taken until 14/16 weeks but could be wrong there... Been 4 years since I last had a baby!
Oh, and take a sample with you... Or be able to pee on demand...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Thanks Krystal
The scan lady said I should get to the doctors asap, because they need to test for Downs in the next few days - is that blood test or a scan?
Its just with the doctor. Need to tell them I'm pregnant!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
FG - the docs don't really see you at all when you are pg - mine couldn't care less TBH!
You need to see a midwife, they run all your pre-natal care.
Did you tell the surgery what it was about when you booked your appointment - when I first called mine the receptionist said I didn't need to see the doc and booked me straight in with the MW...
...unless I suppose that you are under regular doc care for something else? then they might take an interest.
I think the general consensus is that GPs don't really know that much about pregnancy (because they don't need to)
First test for downs is usually a blood test done at about 16 weeks (unless they spot something on your 12 week scan or you specifically ask for the more detailed testing)please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120
