Skintchick, so sorry to hear this. I asked on the board for advise for my daughter who was losing DBS and also had abdo pain and back pain. Luckily she had a scan on Friday, and so far so good.

Anyway, my point of replying is just to say that I don't want to give false hope and realise that whatever will be will be, but I just wanted to give you my story.

I became pregnant with my 3rd child with a coil in situ. I found out very early, at just 5 weeks. I had to have the coil removed and they said I had a high chance of miscarriage at the time, or they could leave it in but it might cause miscarriage at 20 weeks or thereabouts. I had it taken out immediately.

I went abroad at 12 weeks and just hours after landing home had a massive bleed. When I say massive I mean MASSIVE. I was losing clots the size of large oranges and lost more bright red blood than I thought I had in my body. I was admitted to hospital, but as it was a Friday night, the scanning department were closed until Monday morning. I was completely and utterly convinced that I had lost the baby, nothing could have survived this, surely. I had one of the worst weekends of my life. I was 100% sure the scan was just going to be a formality. On the Monday, the radiographer started the scan and I started crying, just waiting for her to tell me. I looked up and saw my husband staring at the screen with a smile on his face!! Against all odds, my baby had survived this massive bleed - no idea what had caused it. My baby is now almost 13 and the most lovable and active child ever.

As I say, I don't wish to give you false hope, but just want to make you see that maybe all is not lost, there is perhaps a bit of hope. I will keep my fingers firmly crossed for you, as many on the forum did for my daughter on Friday. Sometimes miracles do happen and I hope it is your turn for one.

With coats I have always just gone up 2 sizes in them , never bought a maternity coat but try Mamas & Papas , Jo Jo Maman Bebe (?) , Mothercare or Next . They might have something that will fit the bill .

Hi All :) Found out on Friday that I'm 12 weeks, still in happy shock!

Looking forward to getting to know you all :D

Had a private scan on Saturday, got to get to the doctors tomorrow to sort everything out and make sure everythings okay. Can't believe all the stuff I've done in the past 12 weeks, oops.

I'm completely clueless, no idea about pregnancy!

Hi folks, I'm back from my lovely honeymoon in York. Had a lovely time, despite terrible MS(Which is far worse at night than in the morning) and real fatigue... Not helped by the fact DH kept insisting we 'do things because we're on holiday and we should' I eventually mutinied (sp) on Wed night and refused to leave the B&B! Am glad to be home with DD again now, and back to routine of dropping her off at school and lying around on the sofa all day from tomorrow! Oh and I had to buy some trousers the next size up, not because I've grown but because I just can't stand anything done up around my tummy... They're my new best friends!

Congratulations to the new arrivals, and for those interested in water birth, I had one with DD... The feeling as the water rises over your bump is relief like you've never felt before, will def try again with this one... I tore pretty badly but I think it was more to do with propertion of DD head and my lower anatomy than being in the water....

Skintchick, I'm really praying things will be ok for you. Does your local hospital not have a pregnancy early assesment unit you could go to? My sister had a mc a few years ago but she went to our local hospital at about 11pm on a Sat night and they scanned her there and then...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Oh, Skintchick :grouphug: xxx

You are feeling the exactly the same way I did when I m/c but please, please, please don't feel like a failure!!! I couldn't face my parents for a week as I felt I had burst their bubble... but all they wanted to know was that I was ok and to give me a big hug :o (but I haven't told them until after my 12w scan with my next 2 pregs :A).

BUT maybe there will be a little ray of light at your scan tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

    Hi skintchick,

So sorry to hear your news. As you can tell from those who have already replied, it is sadly all too common. I agree with one of the others though (sorry can't remember who it was!) that people do not talk about it enough. Its not until you tell people what you've been through that you realise how many people experience such a loss (not that it makes it any easier to deal with).

If the scan tomorrow confirms the worst, please don't feel like a failure, its only natural to blame yourself but in time you will hopefully feel different.
Its almost a year to the day (17th Oct) since mine and like SB, I didn't tell hardly anyone about this pregnancy until past the 12 week stage (other than those that I knew would help me through it if it all went wrong again!).

I guess we all deal with things in different ways, but I always knew there wasn't something quite right last time. Although not overly religious, I do think that its nature's way (I hope this doesn't offend anyone, it was just the way I managed to come to terms with it).

However, I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping that there maybe good news. Take care hun x
