SeptemberBaby, MFD, Beckseven and Ladybirdintheuk,
Thank you all so much for my messages. I am in work now but sitting here in tears reading my post back and your replies. I am so grateful for your words of advice.
I am still quite teary today, so have to try and manage that at work which should be fun.
I have decided I am not going to watch any more 'birth' type programs until I have to (anti natal classes etc) because they just upset me too much.
I am someone who is always worrying about something and over thinks things and I really wish I could change that but just never seem to be able to.
Not quite sure how to prop myself up at the moment, but I will be okay and get there in the end.
Hope everyone else has a great day. I have a heap of work to get through today so must make a move and try and get on with that.
Take care everyone

AF, I'm a worrier too which is part of the reason the MW suggested I try hypnobirthing. It teaches techniques that can help in situations other than actual birth and might help you relax a little in the run up. Definitely worth talking to the MW and seeing what they suggest to help.
You won't be given marks out of 10 for technique or style and even if your Mum was there she certainly wouldn't be judging anything - just hoping that her little girl is as relaxed and comfortable as possbile.

With hypnobirthing, can you do this by CD etc or does in involve attending a course etc? Sorry for the questions, but i do remember you posting about it and i thought it sounded interesting then.0 -
Aww (HUGS) the programmes still make me cry and I should be giving birth to no. 4 baby any day now!!!
i recvorded it for my 11 yo. daughter as I home educate her so we will watch it together later.
Just let go, imagining things like big open windows or large circles which get bigger have worked for me (may sound nutty but whatever works works - like people said theres no right or wrong) When I had DD I had physical and visual hallucinations and gas and air only when i needed stitches after. I think i just kind of let go and let my body do what it needed to.She was my first baby.
i hope you feel better soon.

I think you can buy a book and CD but I'll be taking an NHS run course in December. It will cost me £20 to cover the cost of the book and CD and my 'class' is on a Monday evening at the hospital. Not sure if Hubbles will actually go to classes but he is encouraged to practise with me between classes so he can support me in the birthing room.
I think someone else is doing it sooner than me and is going to report back, but can't remember who it was...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

thanks for the info. i am sure i remember seeing something on the baby channel about it, a lady being interviewed, but i am not so sure.
i will have a scout around on the internet and see and maybe speak to the MW at some point about it.
it's all just unnerved me a bit.0 -

AF I know all ante natals are different but at mine they said what ever you do don't watch any birth programs as its pointless as every birth is different.
I know saying don't worry is pointless as it really doesn't help:rolleyes: but do try your bestest unfortunately birth is one of those things you really have no idea how will turn out (apart from the fact there will be a baby involved) just try to think positive do the old chant I think I can, I know i can
I absolutely dreaded the birth of Christopher mostly because I hate hospitals and needles, but I was a lucky one, just had gas and air for the contractions and nothing during pushing as I kept dropping the gas thingy so got annoyed and chucked it away. In those final moments you really aren't thinking about pain or that people are looking at your mimsyyou just are like a robot that has to push push push. you really don't feel that much with all the adrenaline coursing through you it really is worth it or I wouldn't be doing it again:rotfl: I am normally a total wuss I had to have a MMR boster last month and I cried like a 3yr old, I'd choose birth over that any day of the week!
Ps. lwcus78 I only put on a stone an a bit with DS I didn't really even have a bump until 7mths gone, people (by people I mean those ones who were previously jealous that unlike them I went to the gym ate healthily and wasn't a heffer!) always commented that I must be having the smallest baby ever but I just said I was only having 1 baby not a litter of pups! Christopher was born 6lb 12oz a perfectly average healthy size 3 days before EDD0 -

AF and lucifa - I'm the other person doing hypnobirthing. I start next month. I am attending a private course as unfortunately the NHS don't offer courses in my area, so we are shelling out for it ourselves. I consists of 5 x 2.5 -3 hour sessions and we get CD's and books to take away to 'practice' with. Hubbie (or birthing partner) and I are asked to attend together.
Even just signing up has calmed me down alot about B-dayMy big thing is that I'm very private about my body (just call me a prude!). Hubbie jokes that he doesn't know how he managed to get close enough to impregnante me  Anyway, Birth therefore concerns me as people have to be around the business end  I have opted for a home birth to help minimise my personal terrors of hospital and interference in my 'personal space' and hope that hypnobirthing will help me stay calm and feel a little more in control (or as much as you can when it comes to things like this :O )
It might not do anything at the end of the day - but I believe that it can't hurt to give it a go and see what happens.
re: small bumps I have a lovely neat bump and everyone feels the need to say 'oh my goodness - you are so small!' in an accusatory tone - esp my MIL. I've just started responding along the lines of sarahsaver with 'that's because I'm not using my pregnancy as an excuse to pigout!'r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
For me, I dont think it's so much my bits being on show, although I am planning to be dressed throughout, it is more my reaction to the pain etc and I really dont' want to be screaming and wailing.
No disrespect at all to others that have got through the birth this way, but I just hate the thought of reacting that way and other people hearing me when I am having bubs.
R.mac - loving your little bump. Good on you for standing up for yourself. I just want my baby healthy whatever size bump it chooses to live inside0
