Did any of you ladies just watch the Sex Education programme on Channel 4?

It was about Pregnancy and Birth this week!

I watched it with OH and even thought I'm pregnant with my 3rd I still found it informative ~ we both shed a tear when the lady gave birth at the end 'sob sob sniff sniff'

It should be repeated if there is anyone who wants to watch it :)

i have just caught the end of the show and saw the birth. suffice to say i am very very very scared. i have my moments when it dawns on me that i have to deliver this baby and i have my own ideas of how i want to do it. i hate feeling like i have failed at something and am really worried about this as this is my first and i feel i have to get it right.
  • In my 1st birth plan I wrote for pain relief "Morphine,Heroin & Crack Cocaine"
Just wanted them to be sure I didn't feel a thing ! :p

    I like your style! :rotfl:

AF, I didn't see the programme but try not to be scared. Just believe your body is designed to do this job but sometimes intervention is required for the safety of you and baby. What do you consider is the 'right' way? Try not to put yourself under any pressure.

  • For all you MSErs - Asda are selling off everything that was in their baby week - they had travel cots for £12.50, Door bouncers and safety gates for £7.50 each and boxes of johnsons baby wipes (6packs) for just £3:eek: I bought 6 of these!!

    Thanks SB,

I guess what I am trying to say is that i do not like doing things if i am not going to be perfect that them. i know this is unrealistic when it comes to having a baby, but i can't help it, it's just the way i am.

that is why i only want my OH there when i have the baby because he wont know if the way i am reacting is right, whereas if my mum was there (which isn't really a possibility as she lives on the other side of the world) she would have been through it all and i would know if i was doing it 'right'. i know the midwives and docs will know, but i can't do it without them anyway.

God, i am only 15 + 4 and am here in tears petrified if i can do this. a bit late now
  • AF, please don't be petrified. I feel sad that you are feeling so worried!! You can do it and you will do it - and you will have the most amazing precious little gift at the end of it (no matter how you did it!). Please try not to be so hard on yourself. No one will be judging you and every single birth is different, I'm sure.

  • AF - you are having a worry filled week!!!

I just reckon that we are going to have to get through it by hook or by crook and there is definitely no bl00dy right or wrong way!!

Worrying is not going to help baby is likely to make it harder for you in the long run.

Worry about the bits that you can control...

....although I can't remember what they are at the moment!

  • AF there is no 'right way' of giving birth. You really don't have much control over it and you'll go into a sort of trance and your body will just take over as it's designed to. Obviously you can write a birth plan-eg in my case I really didn't want an epidural but as it turned out things progressed so quickly that by the time I reached hospital it was too late for one! please don't worry about being perfect-every baby is different and they come out when they want to. Noone will be judging you at all-the midwives will guide you through the process.

  • I think it's normal to worry AF - sounds like you need to talk over everything with your midwife, and she should be able to reassure you a bit? When I'm worrying about things I find writing them down helps too (if I've written them down I don't have to keep thinking about them... that's my logic anyway!). So carry on waffling at us here, or maybe start a diary or something. Whatever works for you!

I'm (mostly) feeling resigned to my fate at the moment. I keep telling myself that my mum went through it and still decided to produce my baby brother (who is now 6 foot odd, and has a phd!!! but he's still my baby brother ;) ) and she is the biggest wimp in the world. So I'm sure I'll manage somehow.

A bit late to change my mind now anyway ;)
