Up to now the only antenatal checks my DD has had is the booking in visit at hosp, and 12 week scan[strike]on same day[/strike]Her next appointment is the 20 week scan at the hosp, as she doesn't want the screening blood tests, is this normal
my area is the same, except the 16 week check at the doc to listen to the heartbeat (see my post above).0 -
hi CG
It's pretty much the same where I am
14-16 week scan
16 week for blood tests and heart rate listen (but this is just for me apparently - the MW just asked if I wanted to hear it, she wasn't required to search for it?) so your DD isn't missing anything if she doesn't want the blood tests - I was in and out within 5 mins.
no 20wk scan in this area, so next I see the MW is at 24wks - as I am scheduling a HB, they come to me, which is nice
*going to feed them cake and tea in teh hope we can bond a bit more before the birth bit*
Don't worry - It seemed to me at first that no-one was that interested, but the MW appointments get a bit more regular after 24wks, or if a problem is spotted.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Can anyone recommend a decent website that sells prams etc...?
I feel the need to tell everyone I meet about the silver Cross 3d in case they are thinking of it as it quite popular, I have one and it is rubbish! the main reason i feel strongly about it is the SX website says "Suitable from birth
to toddler" which is only true if you are happy to buy a sepoerate harnesss from somewhere else as My (pretty small) son was too big for the straps at 12mths (most others I've talked to out grew it earlier (around 9 mths:eek:) he also out grew the matching car seat very quickly, luckily I had a spare one otherwise I would of had to buy another stage 1 seat as he wasn't big enough for stage2

AF (I know you are around somewhere!) - did your babycentre email come through the other day...it's nearly 4pm I am still waiting for mine
Starting to get a little obsessive now (convinced baby has grown tremendously over the last week) checking my hotmail every 2 seconds!!
I know I could get the info if I went onto the website but it's just not the same as getting your own update!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Kiddicare is a good website for all things baby but I recommend going to a local pram specialist shop if you don't know what you want IMHO they know alot more about them and are much more honest and frank about the pros and cons of each model than in big chains like mothercare.

Thanks I will look into that. I have started just having a look at prams and I did quite like the silvercross that is a pram and turns round to be a pushchair. I will bear what you said in mind now thanks!!!!!!!Our dream has come true...0 -
sorry I should of explained; while your bump is small/not showing you wear it tight on your hips to stabilise the pelvis.
I hope you get better soon I had it mildly and my sister who's a physio scared me with stories of women who get it so bad they can't get out of bed because their pelvis is so loose they'd just fall over :j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

MFD - No I didn't get mine on Friday. Not a happy bunny
I couldn't hold off anymore on Friday night and went searching on the website to find out what my updated for 15 weeks would have been. The email still hasn't come through now.
Been on the phone to the midwife, she is going to do the heartbeat appointment with me. Told me you can record it on your mobile phone. I am so excited by that.0 -
Well I managed to face an orange earlier... I know I know it's acidic etc but it was the only thing I didn't heave at the thought of eating... well... it came back up again! *insert expletives of your choice here*
Hohum... so that means so far today we're not holding much down... Managed to get an appointment with doctors tomorrow at 10:40 as the wretching was really quite violent and loads of water came up too as have been trying to stay hydrated... *sigh*
I am SO jealous of all of you who aren't being sick all the timeGood on ya tho! You do SO not want this!

I haven't had my Babycentre email yet either - they may have a problem.
On the subject of websites - anyone finding Cow and Gate not working properly? I signed up to it last week and the first time I signed it is asked me questions I knew I filled in when signing up (am I the mum or dad/wehn is it due etc) so I fill in the info, press confirm and then get an error from Cow and Gate server. Either that or I go onto the website and and get a message saying it isn't working, come back tomorrow - it ain't worked properly for over a week now never mind tomorrow!Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -
