I keep swaying between telling work and not... i spoke to one of the girls at work who's also pregnant and she said wait till 12 weeks - however she didn't get morning sickness at all! Lucky moo! I on the otherhand have! ARGH!

Glad it's not just me (well in a non nasty way!) who feels like this... I knew morning sickness was a strong possibility but I think it must have slipped my mind when we decided to start a family LOL

More of an immediate issue is that I have a meeting early wednesday morning - and I have no idea who I'll manage to sit through a very stressful meeting without throwing up!!! Emotially I'm a yo-yo! Darling Husband is being so good! I don't know that I could put up with me if I were him! Right now I wanna burst into tears but in 5 mins time I'll be wanting to jump for joy - then back down I go thinking I'm celerbating too early and what if... I just can't get over how emotional I suddenly am! ARGH!!!!

Bless you, you do a bit stressed out about things! I'm concerned that I'm maybe not acting emotional enough about the pregnancy...I find that I don't seem to be allowing myself to believe it at the moment iykwim!!!!!

I haven't my immediate colleagues yet but if I get any worse with the morningall day sickness I don't know if I am going to be able to keep it up!!!! I was hoping to get to 12 weeks or so without telling anyone so only 4 weeks to go...OMG!!!!:D :D

Maybe you could just make some excuse if you do feel a bit rotten at your meeting and blame on last nights meal or something???!!!!

Maybe even try some of the sickness wrist bands?

Mrs Tine, I can empathis, I had extreme nausea (I can still barely get in the car!) and it is seriously horrid to feel that ill.

Tips: keep your blood sugar up, the drop will make you worse, so keeping sucky sweets with you all the time and eat a little and often (I ate every two hours and it amazingly effective, basically if you prevent your tummy getting empty then you won't feel as sick, an empty tummy gets grumpy).

Before you get up in the morning eat something. Most people swear by crackers or dry toast, for me a glass of ribena and a kit kat worked wonders! Get Mr Tine to bring them to you as soon as you wake up.

Sea bands, get them from Boots and if you need to you can wear them through the night.

Fennel tea is sposed to be very effective. I see an aromatherpist for various bits of me that don't work and she gave me some fennel oil to sniff which was amazing, but do check with someone qualified before doing that.

Beyond that yes the doctor can prescribe something. I was on phenagan, bloody horrid stuff but it really did work. They can be reluctant but essentially stick to your guns if you're struggling to cope, particularly if, like I had, you've got to the stage where you're so nauseous/sick you can't eat or drink.

    Hope that helps :-)

  • MRS Tine sickness is a sign of a strong pregnancy;)
I got really nauseous buit never actually sick.
Eating a biscuit before i got up and never having an empty stomach helped. I was oversensitive to smells

Thanks Sarah! I keep worrying but as DH says so long as i get morning sickness it shows everything is well :) I might go invest in a bunch of kitkats tho! :rotfl:

And you're right... I looked it up and it says "Studies have shown that women who have NVP tend to have healthier pregnancies, with lower rates of miscarriages and still births, compared to women who have nausea-free pregnancies."

YAY maybe now I can stop stressing so much!

  • Tine, I'm going through exactly the same thing as you at the moment... It's not morning sickness, it's constant, all day until I go to sleep sickness! I know I shouldn't let my stomach empty and should keep eating but it's getting to the point where I've gone off so many different foods and this morning I couldn't finish a mouthfull of toast because I was in danger of seeing the whole slice again... I can remember it being unpleasant with DD but I'm sure it let up at some points in the day! Oh, and whilst supporting a woman at a group today she didn't find out she was pregnant until she was 17 weeks gone... I was soooooooo jealous! Also nobody there knows about the baby so was really difficult to keep snacking discreetly...

Just been to the Docs, have been signed off for another month, and she gave me Codine and Lactulose for the constipation.
She's also refereed me to the Obstetric physio so hopefully I'll get some joy from them soon.

MrsTine, I dont suffer from sickness, just CONSTANT nausea, I was the same with DS, I put on harly any weight with him as I just couldn't eat.
I'm just trying to drink lots of fruit juice and eating small things, nothing sweet though, my stomach wont take it!
Oh the joys of being pregnant! :rotfl:

Mrs Tine could you just have a quiet word with your boss about sickness?
My sickness with DS was worst at 8am just when I needed to leave the house!!
I arranged to have semi- flexi hours so I could come in 30 mins or so later as long as I made up time after 5pm

: have you got a belly belt? thats the first thing they usually recommend for SPD

    candygirl
has she tried Tums or the supermarket equivalent? they usually come in fruit or mint flavour they are safe for use and as you can suck them slowly so they don't make you gag like gaviscon

    hope that help you x
