Quote heather(37 weeks tomorrow. saw the mw today and all is well and baby is measuring about 7lb 9oz ish. picked up my tens machine as well, so it's all systems go for my homebirth!)

How does the mw measure weight of baby. I'd like to know mine as everyone keeps telling me how small my bump is (I'm 31+2). I'm half the size of another girl in work who's 6 weeks behind me.
People say that to me and i have said sometimes 'its because I am not FAT':rotfl: The MW felt me and I just happened to ask if she knew whether the baby was big or average and she said roughly 7lb, but no weights have been recorded in my charts. She just said that my bump is 'all baby'

Thanks for that heather and sarahsaver, I'll have to ask mw next week i see her. I've not been given a chart.
Another Q if I may, does anyone know if I have to specifically buy a silvercross dazzle footmuff for my dazzle pushchair? Or will most other footmuffs fit also.
    Thanks xx

you get a growth chart from the hospital when you have your scan (or i did at least) and it's page 14 in your green notes. it's customised for each person based on your height, weight and weight of previous children. it looks like a graph with fundal height up one side and weight up the other and gestational weeks along the bottom
    examples here http://www.gestation.net/fetal_growth/examples.htm

ginger can help, ginger nuts or as a tea or peppermint tea.
i must admit nothing worked for me and it went on it's own at 17 weeks.

What's for you won't go past you
  • MFD - sorry to hear about yesterday, definitely take it easy and get someone to pamper you!

Emma - thanks for sharing your experience of the physio, I'm really sorry to hear that it didn't work for you and that things are getting worse. From what I've been reading, I think I've got it pretty mildly at the moment and it's still getting me down, so I really feel for you. I was reading up on the pelvic partnership website and they do have some other suggestions apart from physio, do don't know if that's worth thinking about?

They also have a downloadable leaflet for friends and family members, I printed a copy for my OH and he's really taken to heart the stuff about looking after me, doing all the household chores etc!! He's pretty good anyway but I'm going to enjoy this as much as poss before the novelty wears off.

I'm working from home Monday and Tuesday because of the southeastern train strike and I thnk I'll try and see if the GP can refer me if I still haven't heard anything back from my MW.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

I haven't got one of those growth chart thingys either, my fundal height has been measured though (absolutely perfect everytime *smug look* some midwives actually seemed surprised when they measured and I was spot on! Especially the ones with tape measures but anyway) but just written down in my notes, so maybe some places do them and some don't.

Pretty gutted mine don't though as that would have answered a large number of questions of mine! (and probably raised a few as well knowing me!)

Has anyone been to Asda for the baby event - ends on Sunday.

My asda yesterday had bedding sets, quilt, bumper, fleece and sheet, in a nice neutral cream with teddy design, for £15.00.

Box of 6 packs of Johnsons wipes for £4.

Plastic box full of Johnsons stuff, shampoo, talc, babybath etc for £7.

Huggies starter box with nappies, wipes and little cute socks for £5.

They also had carseats, vests, babygrows, microwave/steam steriliser etc.

I was tempted, but didn't buy anything.

My 20w scan is Monday - I was going to Asda on the way back, then i noticed it ended tomorrow:mad:!
