Am 38 weeks tomorrow, and leaving on maternity leave today. This last month or so has gone quite fast, all very exciting.
keely kat and fritha, I enjoy reading your posts as you are due about the same time as me. I had the 38 week check yesterday. The doctor nearly passed out yesterday when she did my urine test, as the lucocyte reading was so high, but it turns out i did the sample wrong (is it too much information if I say it is meant to be mid-stream?!). 4/5ths engaged now.0 -
Sarahsaver wrote: »AF pleased to hear the scan went ok. Have you 'got' to have the blood tests? I guess you mean the downs screening, I didn't with any of my (4) pregancies.
Hi Sarah,
Sorry I have taken so long to reply.
You are right, I had the down's screening which involved the scan so they could measure the folds in bub's neck and then they combine the result of that with my blood test results.
It was a check we had been offered and decided to take.
I know it is personal choice, but I am a worrier and as I turned 30 this year (which i know is not terrible old) the odds dip greatly in your favour and I just wanted to know where I was at.
Take care.0 -

). If you could have seen my Mum's face when we told her the sad news
then you would know exactly why we kept things under wraps until we have seen our babies on screen
. Immediately after both first scans we have visited my parents and shared our news which helps clear my conscience for the 8 or so weeks of deception :rotfl:.
I have two sisters but wouldn't have told either even though we are extremely close. They don't want to know that this baby is a boy in case they slip up and tell Mum who really wants it to be a surprise.

Hello SeptemberBaby,
We went through the same thing - told everyone and then I had a m/c at 9 weeks. It was aweful! This time we want to wait until our first scan, but they're behind in booking them at the hospital here - i'm at least 11 weeks and no date for the scan yet!!!! (MW said it could be at 15 weeks!) Not sure we can hold off that long but we really want some reassurance before telling everyone! I'll definately be showing by then - I'm tiny and already starting to show a bit....Not sure what to do!Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32

I planning to work until two weeks before. Am I mad? Plus side is that I can work from home if I need to so wouldnt need to travel at all. Suppose I will just need to see how things go.
Emma
Hi Emma,
I want to work up until 2 weeks before, but I'm nervous if I get really run down it'll be too much, so I think I'll give myself 4 weeks just in case. Not sure what I'll do with the time, but probably be too tired to do much!Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32

Glad to hear everything went OK Angelfairy, so did mine so we can both calm down and stop worrying now!
Scan went fine and confirmed date as 7 March which is what i thought, we saw the consultant because I had an emergency C-section last time so I am 'High Risk' this time, Consultant asked me what I want to do this time do I want an Elective? I wasn't quite ready for that question! so we agreed he will see me again at 37 weeks to make the decision, Has anyone had a VBAC, or decided to have a VBAC this time? (Vaginal Birth After Caesarian) How did you decide?
Millie rang round everyone last night and told them at first she was saying 'mums got a baby' which made it sound like I'd found one under a mulberry bush, then we got her to say I'm going to be a big sister which was a bit better!
Everyone was really excited except my mum who is sulking because she found out that my sister has known since 6 weeks 'Its just us you didn't want to tell is it?' She is not going to upset me though, if she can't behave like an adult instead of a spoilt child why should i treat her like one! In fact I'm dying to let slip that my hairdresser has known since 5 weeks! (he was colouring my hair and i didn;t want to end up green or something, plus telling your hairdresser is like being in confession isn't it?)
Hi Millie's mum
I had a VBAC almost 8 years ago. DS was born by emergency c-sec 11 years ago. I'd gone into labour normally, waters broke etc, then after 24 hours they noticed he was breech and was stuck bum down  . They were going to come at me with the big salad spoons, but his heartrate dropped so i was whisked off to have him cut out.
With DD 3 years later they said there was no reason not to go for a VBAC, and i think i wanted to experience a 'proper' birth. I think we had a few extra scans, one at 37 weeks, to make sure she was the right way round.
I went into labour at 38 weeks, slow all day, then waters broke and she was born 4 hours later. It was so much easier!!!
Now with no.3 on the way, its the same again really. Just see how it goes and hopefully have another, even easier one.
I found the actual birth, not to mention the recovery, a much more pleasant experience with DD.
I'm 17+2 today and finally my sick feeling and my spots have gone. But my hormones are still crazy - i cried like an idiot as my baby boy went off to secondary school this morning.

Hi Sarahsaver,
I'm glad i'm not the only OAP on here. I'm 36, will be 37 when this one is ready to come out.
I also had first in 1997 (he went to big school today:eek: ), followed by DD in 2000.
I decided against the extra tests for OAP's too - i think the results are not definate enough, if you know what I mean!! And there are so many other problems no tests can tell you about anyway.:beer:0 -

Hadn't realised there was someone so close to my EDD - I'w 17+0 today:j I think I've felt my Bean move - like little butterfly kisses on the inside
The first to know for me we the DFW lot on the Daily chat thread. I was so shocked I had to post to retain my sanity!
We only told Mum and Da early (6weeks) because we were going to them for our summer hols and I would have had to make up a story about not using the hot tub or having a drink. It was worth the risk to see their faces (they live in Plymouth while I'm in Paisley so it would have been a phonecall if the timing was different). We didn't tell any else until after our scan at 12+6 (would have been a week earlier but a work deadline meant I had to push it back:o )26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

I think i felt it move last week - like rubblings in my tummy. Is it your first? I think its harder too recognise unless you know what it feels like!?!
This lot were the first to know about mine - i just had to tell someone!! Followed by both sets of parents, me mine and OH his, at the same time so neither could say the other knew first:beer:0
