hi all.....I hadn't put myself on the expecting list - very superstitious after past bad experience, but am thrilled to announce that baby Martha Pamela arrived 20 days early via emergency c section on 5/8/08 weighing 5lbs 5oz. She's absolutely gorgeous and after losing 100g in the first week is now feeding much better and putting on weight. I had a conversation a while back with lwucas and tests for Downs (we refused the amnio) and am pleased to say that Martha is absolutely fine. Good luck to everyone else. x
  • Bubs, congratulations. :T :T
Am so pleased for that everything turned out well for you. :j

    I bet she is adorable!!!

  • Thanks everyone for telling their stories about who they've told about their pregnancy before 12 weeks. It makes me feel much better to hear how everyone else has coped! I think I will tell a few close friends because I could really use some extra support!

Hi Crazy, we told people at 9 and a half weeks due to an early scan.

Last year I didn't tell anyone I was PG until I miscarried at 9/10 weeks.
Got PG again not long after and did not tell anyone until after the first scan.
I coped by not having people's hopes up too early on! No sooner do you tell anyone you are PG they seem to have miraculously planned the whole of yours and the baby's life out for you!
I told my employers because of health and safety issues, I used to have to carry heavy boxes on occasion.

    Congrats to Bubs :)

    Afternoon all

This might sound silly, but I keep forgetting I am pregnant! I am 11+4 and feel nothing...
I am excited about the baby and I have wanted another bay since the day ds2 was born (well shortly after hehe) but I just can't seem to get my head around the fact that I am pregnant.
I have a hell of a lot going on at home and this might be the reason why, and I'm sure I will get more involved when the time gets nearer (probably after christmas). With my 2 boys I bonded really well while I was pregnant and felt very close to them, I suppose I am just rambling at the moment but need to get it off my chest as dh is so wrapped up in starting Uni in a few weeks (and rightly so) that he isn't really 'with me' at the moment...

    Sorry for rambling on.

    Mel x

No need to apologise Mel, i think we all need to vent every so often to people who understand physically mentally and emotionally whats going on.

I would say if theres so much going on outside of the pregnancy which is more at the fore front in your daily life, then that would probably be the reason.
Have you started to show yet? Have you suffered much with morning sickness previously etc? My mum said that when she was pregnant with me she didnt get that excited till a lot later, as I was her second and she didnt really suffer too much with me, took her till around 5 months i think, as she didnt show for a while, had my sister to deal with, a new puppy and my dad was working loads.
She said she "knew" but she didnt really feel like she was pregnant and realise what was going to happen till about 5 months, because her mind was always contending with 3 or 4 things, and I was being pretty easy on her LOL...
When DH starts uni and gets the butterflies out of the way and I presume your boys are back at school etc, you'll get a bit more quiet time to clear your head...

Have you had any days out with your mum or close friend etc, as a bit of a baby day, just for yourself really, ignore everything at home for a wee while and spend some time as a mum to be, maybe that will help?

Sorry if Im jabbering rubbish now.... but to be honest I generally only remember I'm pregnant because I feel sick all the time :)

    Thanks CAFCgirl

I felt a bit nauseus early on but nothing too bad, have been very tired but again, that's gone now too...
I am not really showing, just look fat! I can't fit into any of my usual clothes so am in joggers or previous post pg jeans that I have dug out from the back of the wardrobe.

I suppose I will feel more pregnant when I start showing and feeling the baby kicking. I also know what a lot of moving around of things we have to do to free up the small bedroom as it is a study at the moment.

I will try to be positive and just get on with everything that needs doing for now, I'm sure I will feel more excited in a month or so.
