Septemberbaby, how do you like the silver cross one you had for Poppy?

We had a mama's and Papa's travel system for millie which was huge and expensive and we ditched for a maclaren as soon as she was 1, but I am looking at that silver cross for this one, We don't have much baby stuff to buy so we thought we might get a lovely new pram!

I keep coming back to that silver cross, how big is it when folded? In an ideal world I'd get a mutsy but my friend has one and it is gigantic, we would have to build a garage to keep it in!

  • RE prams when we had DD1 8 years ago we got a britax travel system with car seat, carry cot & seat for older child which was fantastic & also did DD2 - eventually broke when she was a couple of years old & we shoved it in the loft, so now we need to get it out to see if the chasis can be repaired

I am tempted to get a new pram etc with car seat that is isofix compatible as we will be getting a new car soon & the few we are looking at have isofix points - with the school run twice a day (and yes bad me we have to drive) i figured it'd be really handy

as a self confessed pram lover i must say go and try them out before you buy!!
for DD1 i had a graco travel system, same for DS1 however newer model. i wasnt too keen on these and ended up with a lighweight pram.

DD2 i bought a bebecar system with the carrycot, car seat and big seat attachment, its got air tyres and i love it to pieces, i also bought the quinny zapp when she was bigger as i had got a smaller car and found it hard to get al the bits in the back.

DS2 i used the bebecar as it still looks like new, have the quinny in the garage for when he is bigger as its good for rushing about town. but i had an impulse buy of a hardbodied silver cross coachbuilt pram and i must say this is my fav out them all. not practical for in the car but for walking and letting them sleep in the garden its great!!! it was from ebay and i got it very cheap so OH couldnt moan lol!!

but sadly with new baby on the way i must say goodbye to my bebecar (my sister buying it from me as she has found out she is pregnant!) and by the looks of things i will be getting a phil and teds?

I was going to ask septemberbaby the same. Thats the one i've been looking at, but also like this Silver Cross one http://www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/acatalog/Silver_Cross_Classic_Sleepover_Deluxe_New_Marina_2007.html
    because of the 'proper' wheels.

Has anyone had this one, is it worth it? Fitting it in the back of the car doesn't matter, the boot is huge - although the house is tiny so wondering where it would fit!!

Candygirl: I had the altan from mother care as well but it broke! All the material ripped and Charlie was only a few months old and not a real heavy brute. Eventually the manufactures said it was unrepairable and I got my money back. But it was just one of those things. I loved the car seat, especially the base as it was so easy to click the seat into the base and take baby out when you wanted. However the pushchair itself is huge. It folds in half so the base of the pushchair goes flat to the back of the seat (if that makes sense!) as I was using it for walking about it didn't matter but it would only fit in cars with big boots!! It wouldn't fit in my peugeot 206 or anything smaller. The wheels also buckled on the altan as they are only plastic formed tyres and really thin so don't leave the pushchair in the sun, car boot or anywhere it could get hot! Also the Altan's handle bars (can't think of better word!) are one piece so you can't put shopping bags over them. The basket/bag for storage on the atlan is tiny considering you can't put anything on the handlebars.

I've now got the Chicco London which I got from one of the online sellers (kiddycare/babycentre- can't remember which) and it was only £45, new car seat cost £25 so it saved me a lot of money! I prefer the Chicco as it is an umbrella folding pushchair and is much easier to store in the house and takes less room in the car, its lighter and easier to use I found.
If you want any more information then feel free to ask

angchris: Have you looked at the Chicco London? Only cos it looks very similar but quite a bit cheaper! I got the raincover & cozytoes with mine as well.
Claire thanks for that head's up about the Atlan, I think you were just unlucky cos my SIL has used hers for 2.5 years now with 2 kids, and it's still going strong, with no tears or anything;) I agree about it not fitting into boots easily though, and the handles thing:o :o For the price and with all the discounts I got online it was cheaper than just buying the car seat and the base, so was too good to miss:D :D

Keep an eye on boots when you are ready to buy your buggy.

By the way good choice. Friend has it as a travel system. Wish this was the type of travel system I wemnt for instead fo my britax beast!

We are probably going to go for this one, the Bebeconfort Streety. Have been researching pushchairs / travel systems for weeks now and we are going for this one because it will fit into the boot of my Ford Ka, many don't unfortunately. I'm also pleased as it comes with a car seat and footmuff and the pushchair can face both ways. It's also quite a good price, especially if you can get it on a good deal on another website.
  • i will need a travel system. Only got a saxo and narrow porch so need a small one. Also live on a farm so need an off road one. This is going to take a lot of research i think. Prob going to order on line as i work 8-6 and don't live near any of these shops. It's all very confusing

Hey girls not pregnant yet but I will defo get the icandy one when my time comes :D

My friend has the icandy apple which is perfect as she just found out she is pregnant again (she already has a 1 year old) and with the icandy apple you can get the attachment which goes on top.

Anyways, just thought I'd give my pennies worth.

  • Is the icandy one of the ones that the maxicosi baby seat will attach to?

I subscribe to Which, the consumer testing people and the maxicosi came head and shoulders above other car seats in their testing a few months ago (need to dig the article out - it was pre-bubba so didn't take enough notice other than to inform my friend).
