DD's picked this one, cos my Sis in law has used the same one for 2 kids, and it's still in perect cond.It has the pushchair, car seat, car seat base etc n changing bag all for a very reasonable price. The man in Mothercare recommended it, as he said all the expensive prams were just for show:)http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000TGIDD6/sr=1-3/qid=1219348288/ref=sr_1_3/202-7251416-9648652?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42803041&mcb=core

oh and i have already decided on a pushchair even though im only 8 weeks gone...nothing like early planning :rotfl: we have decided to go for the maclaren techo xlr http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7758.aspx (dont forget you can use tesco codes :money: )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkopkMNM_Bo as we live in a small house with hardly any room for storage for a big brut of a travel system, this buggy collapses right down to an umbrella fold and is lightweight to throw in the boot of the car. it also is one of the very few umbrella fold pushchairs that the seat reclines flat for a newborn and i think it was just released this year and has won a few awards for good design.
i dont want a great big heavy buggy as a few of my friends have bought really plush looking prams/3 in 1`s etc then 5 months down the line have sold it and gone for a practical umbrella fold so this will suit me ideally.

We got the xlr as well, it's tremendously long so we have to have a game of tetris to fit in the boot and it does have some foibles (sp?) when it comes to putting newborns in (from what I've read it doesn't quite lie completely flat, and the straps are a bit high) but we figured that every pram will have it's weaknesses and for the strengths of a mac we were happy with them.

We have got a very lovely sling as well so hopefully (if we get the hang of it!) we'll be able to use that more than the pram :-)

RE. pushchairs I got a second hand Mutsy from a friend for £60 :) and hubby bought the Aprica car seat. google it if you dare! it's a bit posh...but we have a seat alhambra and its one of a few that fit really well, and we saved a lot on the buggy! i wouldnt have dared get anything like this any earlier as I had a miscarriage last year.

  • Candygirl: I had the altan from mother care as well but it broke! All the material ripped and Charlie was only a few months old and not a real heavy brute. Eventually the manufactures said it was unrepairable and I got my money back. But it was just one of those things. I loved the car seat, especially the base as it was so easy to click the seat into the base and take baby out when you wanted. However the pushchair itself is huge. It folds in half so the base of the pushchair goes flat to the back of the seat (if that makes sense!) as I was using it for walking about it didn't matter but it would only fit in cars with big boots!! It wouldn't fit in my peugeot 206 or anything smaller. The wheels also buckled on the altan as they are only plastic formed tyres and really thin so don't leave the pushchair in the sun, car boot or anywhere it could get hot! Also the Altan's handle bars (can't think of better word!) are one piece so you can't put shopping bags over them. The basket/bag for storage on the atlan is tiny considering you can't put anything on the handlebars.

I've now got the Chicco London which I got from one of the online sellers (kiddycare/babycentre- can't remember which) and it was only £45, new car seat cost £25 so it saved me a lot of money! I prefer the Chicco as it is an umbrella folding pushchair and is much easier to store in the house and takes less room in the car, its lighter and easier to use I found.
If you want any more information then feel free to ask

angchris: Have you looked at the Chicco London? Only cos it looks very similar but quite a bit cheaper! I got the raincover & cozytoes with mine as well.

Oooh thanks for the pushchair piccies....

With ds1 I had a graco travel system, which was great. When I had ds2, ds1 wasn't quite 2 so I spent a fortune on a big bouncy pram that had a seat on top, I found I barely used it and by the time ds2 was 1yr I was back to ds1's graco. I used the graco until ds2 was about 3 so I used it for 5 yrs it was still in great condition when I gave it to a friend.

We got rid of our car early this year so I need something light that I can get on the bus/train easily (don't use them that much tho) but something comfy for the school run twice a day which is 15mins each way....

  • The lie flat bit was the most important issue with DH. He dismissed anything that didn't....and believe me we tried lots!:D.

And, I'm ashamed to say, I'm the least person who gets to use the pushchair :rotfl:. DH always wants to push Poppy when we're out and the same goes for Mum/sisters/aunties/cousins...! I'd love to see their faces if I say I'm going to hog new baby in a sling! :rotfl::D;).
